My first statement was, "I have the feeling that is is like....". I cant imagine, that CCP want to make this changes. For me it fells like - they are forced by investors.
which investors are you speaking of?
IKR?

It just dawned on me, "RIOT!" Was that an attempt to incite a forum riot? I thought it was a lame attempt at attracting attention to the OP using an inflammatory, or trigger word. Now, I think the statement following - "Gamedevelopment follows exclusively the interests...." - was intended as a worthy reason for us to lose our minds and run up the streets with torches and pitchforks.

Say it ain't so. *tears her garment, rends YOUR beard*

RIOT! Because, you want to be part of a good game (like ~2010/2011) or you want to be part of a product raped for profit?

Its your choice.

Because CCP wants to go out of business and will just not think about such things? All investors are predatory and shortsighted enough to kill their golden-egg Goose? Ok. btw - do you know who owns a majority in CCP and who their main financial partner is?
Hilmar aint completely stupid...

I am not sure you understand what I mean.

Tell me, which investment you prefer:

Investment 1:

You take 40Mio of your money into a company and you get 50Mio back in 5 years. (good conditions for worker and consumer)

Investment 2:
You take 40Mio of your money into a company and you get 70Mio back in 2 years. (company total burned out)

Investment 3:
You take 40Mio of your money into a company and you get 50Mio back in 10 years. (awesome conditions for worker and consumer)

Investment 2. As long as I'm getting paid the company can rot for all I care. There is 0 incentive for me to keep the workers or consumers happy as an investor.

Which is precisely why the investors aren't involved in the day to day running of the company.

I would opt for Investment No.4:
You take 40M into a company, then fire them all and sell the tools and properties for 180 millions in a year.

When things get *ahem* slow, the investors will choose leadership who chooses option 2.

Like I said, get a clue. OR, release your own game with your imagined fabulous way to manage it and show us all your business brilliance. (Keep us posted on your release date.)

Yup, and then as a starter lay offs begin, to get the "financial numbers" straight again.
Some time later the company is burned out and mostly after a few years it is closed, in receivership or sold anyways.

I love that "raped for profit" whine, i really do.
Most of you "raped for profit" whiners are gettin' raped for profit everytime you buy your fancy Apple product, NIKE sneakers or when you buy a "coffee" at Starbucks, and normally you don't give a eff about it, but when it comes to games, omfg, there is whining in levels never seen before.
Maybe you should talk to my wife, she works in Healthcare, she could tell you what being raped for profit really means.

Not me, I love to renounce. I hope my old Smartphone will work as long as possible for example. But you are right, only the consumer can bring companys like apple and starbucks down.

The point remains. Having access to information doesn't necessarily mean you'll react any more intelligently.

Well, I am not here to defend anyone who dont want to accept the propaganda of lizard-people.

I am here only to say that noone will play a shytty game. Sooner or later. Rather sooner. People are impatient.
NPE is same as ever was, if not more confusing, CCP investors can kiss any new player butt on logout if they really pushed for it.
They may not stay long anough to even have this 5 M SP. They will see it, say its shyt, and leave. No hope.

NPE is not really relevant for keeping players.

99.99% of all people learn the game after they subbed.
There is actually no other way, because the trial isn't sufficient for learning the game.

Education isn't relevant for making people sub.
The NPE is fine enough for communicating the important basics ...
... flying, warping, shooting, docking, trading, contracts ...
... and the rest should be all about experiencing something that hooks the player.

Education does not serve that purpose. It does not hook a player.
"Hey wow I have learned really well how this works and even though it was boring as **** I'll still sub anyway" ...
... said no one ever.

With Alphas, players have all the time of the world to learn how to play the game. And so far everyone who subbed eventually managed to learn it. If that's not a hint towards "education does not help subscription rate" then I don't know what it is.

What most people seem to be missing is that they are actually rooting for all the idiots who are too dumb to learn the game even with the massive help they already get. I didn't need that help. You didn't need that help. Most people around here didn't need that help. If you don't ask yourself "Why do they need it?" then you're doing it wrong and completely ignore the reality of lots of people being too dumb to actually play this game and no amount of education will fix that.

Actually I think there will be not much new people. So many years this game was on the market that people interested had time to try it.

Never underestimate the amount of low life scum out there ...
... who will join simply because it's free ...
... and because they think they can be someone important by throwing money at it.

I think EVE can embrace the pirate scum like always.
But I suspect that ship skins and pirate clothing will not be enough. I think CCP will dig deeper. I have seen that in AOC. After some time PvP clothing was available for money, no grind needed, no lvl needed....

Golden ammo and golden ships.
