I was just messing around with some fitting, trying to come up with something that could both brawl and kite decently enough.
Not looking for the ship to excel at either, just be comfortable in both situations.

Now bear in mind that the following fit is pretty bad, but its just a basic idea that i think would be kinda interesting to mess around with.

[Republic Fleet Firetail]
Gyrostabilizer II
Co-Processor II
Tracking Enhancer II

Small Shield Extender II
Republic Fleet 1MN Afterburner
J5 Enduring Warp Disruptor
Balmer Series Compact Tracking Disruptor I

250mm Light Artillery Cannon II
250mm Light Artillery Cannon II
Light Missile Launcher II

Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer II
Small Core Defense Field Extender II
Small Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer II
Switch Savage

I understand what you were going for but ships in eve excel when fit for a specific purpose. The fit you have come up with is terrible at both and would not beat a kiter or a brawler. Some ship fits/weapons systems allow you to somewhat kite and brawl but these are few and far between.

I like the Stratios for this kind of role best. 5 mids means mwd/ab/web/scram/long point is viable for engaging either way. The large drone bay means target selection is easier because you can carry drones for various ship classes. Highs and lows are a bit more free form. Neuts/Nos work well for breaking active tanks and escaping. The nos can fuel a single MAAR for active tank in lieu of the cap booster. A MAAR + transverse bulkheads keeps you fast and agile and leaves room for DDAs. Alternative you can increase DPS with guns. I like ACs for this as they are capless, not locked in to a damage type and good against a wide range of targets. You may want to go a more traditional armor buffer here to outlast the fight, as with no nos you won't be running reps for long. Cloak is optional. It makes for a nice stealthy gank boat, but leaving it off for the extra high and better lock time also works if you just want to fight.

There's already between that exists and it's called a 'scram kiter' you stay outside of a brawlers range and control distance with web, scram and afterburner.

If you're talking about something that can actually brawl and kite at the same time then the only thing I can possibly think of is a dual prop gila. Drones are the only weapon system that can hit close and long range within 1 fit.

Your tank will be hilariously **** but you will be able to brawl and kite.

As for frigates I don't believe any offer the fitting room or slot layout or the potential for range changes that a gila can provide.

You mean the baby Gila, the Worm.

At a cruiser level the Eagle and do both and the Moa used to.

Blasters can't reach out to kiting ranges not to mention those ships you mentioned are slow af

Interesting idea. I haven't tried to make brawling/kiting work in one ship with a same fit, but I'd imagine if that's what you are thinking about you would need dual prop as a baseline for any such fits.

Phantasm could probably do it too with bonused AB and Scorch, and rail Vigilant or Daredevil could probably 'brawl' with Javelins with good enough tracking due to the web bonus (don't quote me on this though, I haven't tried it lol).

But I don't really see a reason why you would want to be able to 'brawl' if you can 'kite'. Kitey ship has no reason to get into brawling range vs. a ship that is specifically designed and fitted for close range brawling. And why would a brawling ship try to kite? :p

Interesting idea but I just don't see much reason to have half/half fits in normal circumstances, unless you are thinking of proper dual prop set ups like on Worm/GIla, etc.

Cheers Love! The cavalry's here!

I thought that was the running gag in Island - the technological most advanced folks have the worst tech Sad

Now I am curious, what ranges are we talking? 20, 30, 40km?
