A few times I came back to EvE after a break I tried PvE. It was intolerable, I think I managed half a worlds collide in a Vindi before I began to feel ill since Id done this and every other mission likely hundreds perhaps thousands of times. You see irrespective of what mission, anom, belt rat you,ve killed they all behave exactly the same. Even incursions and wormholes its the same thing over and over.

Those of you who have played LoL, WoW, EQ just imagine how boringly aweful it would be if every NPC in every zone instance or dungeon just stood there or began slowly running circles around you throwing various sized rusty daggers and casting level 1 frostbolt and thats EvEs PvE in a nutshell.

So what is there other than writing completely new PvE other than new PvE ships to keep people interested.

In the,end it does not matter about the nerds so emotionally invested in highsec jealousy that they would oppose all forms of improving the game for highsec only players and thus providing more subs and funds for all. All that matters is convincing CCP to dump the Band of Developers and Devswarm bias and get some competent leadership with businesd acumen.

This is a PvP focused game, its not like those other MMOs nor should it be.

That feeling when you realise how few people understand that the purpose of PVE content is to turn you into PVP content.

oh, and, get out of hisec.

Well, when I look at my original EvE box I can read things like:

CHOOSE A PROFESSION
"Dauntless fleet commander, or the most nefarious pirate ever to terrorize the galaxy - be and do anything you´d never dare imagine."

EXPLORE A VAST UNIVERSE
"Thousands of solar systems await exploration, exploitation and corruption at the hands of you and your friends."

JOIN THE COMMUNITY
"Conspire with thousands of others to bring the galaxy to its knees, or go it alone and share the glory with no one"

PLAYER-DRIVEN ECONOMY
"Form a cartel of ruthless compatriots and control the spaceways. Buy, sell and barter to amass great wealth.... or do it the easy way with a hostile takeover"

I am missing the comments on the box which explicitly state that you will get your jollies from killing npcs and fighting the amazing AI and the gret storyline and the giantiac amount of quests to be part of your empire forging.

I have no idea how anyone would look at the box and say: hey that looks like an awesome PvE game, well except for Ziona of course, with you nothing is surprising anymore, just as it is not surprising why you don´t see why capitals in high sec would be a bad idea.

edit: "Immerse yourself in the vast virgin territories of EvE where power is the holy gral and the ultimate aphrodisiac. Concieve a new life without boundaries, where murder, plunder, betrayel and delusions of grandeur will lead you to boundless glory or to the brink of ruin. The galaxy is yours to control if you have the brains, strength and cunning to succeed."

And let's not forget this tidbit, officially by CCP:

But that's probably a part of the conspiracy...

It's weird that I write this - to me at least - because I believe in every single conspiracy out there ...

Beyond Battleship (L4 L5) there is no more content for a solo PvE-er.

Wouldnt be cool to add some PvE Capitals, which could give us more goals, fun etc...

or is it just a complately stupid idea? :)

Its a completely good idea, more content in hisec = more new subscribers = more pvp opportunities = more nullsec players.

HiSec already has some of the most risk free ISK faucets in the game. Since nerfing wormhole capital escalation PvE, HiSec incursions are near the best ISK/Hour you can make in this game and is virtually risk free. About the only better ISK/hour is doing level 5 missions in Low Sec space.

If I go ratting in my C4 static wormhole, I'm taking a HUGE risk. Every minute I'm in space, doin the Shoot The Red Chevron thing is a minute longer any hostiles have to notice me, get their stuff together and come blap me.

Oh, and in exchange for that risk I'm taking, I earn roughly the same per hour per character as a good hisec incursion group can earn while inside the baby blanket safety of CONCORD.

HiSec needs less ISK faucets, not more. If you want the high-end ISK faucets, take some risks. Don't expect it all to be spoonfed to you.

Except it won't work like that.

Unless you're a hardcore Mining Corp, or supercapital builder, there's almost no reason to actually own sov in 0.0 space beyond planting a flag and an e-peen waving contest.

If hisec gets much more lucrative than it currently is, why would anyone ever go to the more dangerous areas of space to live and setup a little space yurt?

If there's no industry in 0.0, then there's no people in 0.0. Imagine if EVERYONE in EVE lived purely in HiSec? Is THAT a game you'd want to play? Suicide ganks and MTU flipping would be the only forms of PvP outside war-decs.

More content is good, I agree there. But not in HiSec space. Heck, I'd like to see every system in EVE start losing Sec Status. Put an end to the contiguous blob of Empire space. Force people to go through some LowSec systems on their way from Jita to Amarr.

I concur. Capital ships in highsec. just remove cyno ability and have single room anoms or even single room incursions for dreads / carriers.

Do something ballsy for once CCP. Instead of breaking what isn't broken, how about making the game interesting again instead of the skillpoint shellgame making 3 months of skilling irrelevant every 3 months.

Role bonus

Pulverize >25% increase to alpha strike of artillery cannons.

Mobile shipyard >can produce up to BC class hull out of salvage n loot

Unfocused jump drive>can lock on large celestial body's in adjacent systems to achieve gate less jump

Yep would fly that regular caps for high sec pve would be

Theres only one way I can see this working....

Deadspace pocket with a full grid, in the center is a "cyno beacon" that needs to be activated by a pilot in any ship, that can then cyno in a carrier or dread to the mission space. This entire grid runs on low sec mechanics and for all parts IS low sec space. Going off grid with the capital gets you concorded, lore bite is that concord doesnt condone such shenanigans. And you must effectively jump back out again to low sec again. This limits where such a mission could spawn to 5LYs from low/null sec.

This all could facilitate that the capital pilot running said mission can be pew pewed by anyone scanning the mission pocket down, entering it and also lighting said cyno beacon in the pocket and dropping their own capitals on the player with full low sec rules applying. Sec status losses and suspect status for engaging without war dec, nothing with war dec.

Rewards would be double the best high sec L4 mission plus the chance of a faction dread spawn in high sec comparable to null sec Haven or belt spawn rates. Only faction not True, Dread, Domi, Shadow available. This would make the entire mission worth roughly 100mil plus an added 50mil or so for the faction spawn if and when it happens at the risk of being dropped, bridged, blopsed, in high sec space by anyone.

I think this would be about the right reward structure for the risk involved.

You could make these optional storyline missions much like the burners are so as not to make them too plentiful in nature. Read mission spawn rate adjusting by CCP.

Then I would say allow capitals in high sec. Twisted

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

Nowhere in there, there is no reason for letting capitals into HS.

Sure it would be "new" until it was not and you were "feeling ill" again and came back here whining for something else to keep you occupied.

How would this make the game interesting again?

Okay, I suppose the caterwauling from the Bads™ when people start parking their dreads outside of trade hubs and blapping stuff would be mildly interesting for awhile, and who doesn't love an "I told you so," moment?

I know Im not the only pve player who finds these "improve pve" types irritating. They never seem to discover the fact that the pve isnt the problem, its their own unreasonable preferences. They prefer standard mmo pve and want eve pve to be like that, you can see it in infinity ziona's mentioning of other mmos.

Yet EVERY attempt to add that kind of pve to eve has failed. People try the new stuff for a few weeks and go right back to saving the same ole damsel, because eve pve players arent standard mmo pvers and ccp isn't the kind of outfit that can pump out constant pve content like themepark mmo makers can. Ccp even trying tondo that is foolish.

As for infinity, its just like any outbreak style desease, sure it hurts for a while, but it will rage quit again in a few weeks, so jst toughmit out Big smile
