After having thousands of bpc's in my hangars ive resorted to putting them into cans and labeling them. however anywhere even cans can have a max of 1000 items.

There are 2 things that really annoys me.

1) Some bpc's have such an annoying production timer for the whole bpc (talking about t2 bpc here).
2) When you have them in a can in a pos you need to take the can and put them into your cargohold to actually open them to see inside them.

How about you could merged the bpc's i.e. 10x 10 run bpc becomes 100 run bpc. OR you could bind them as a book of some sort, kindof like the stacked unused bpo's have numbers when stacked togather and when bpc is used it gets "taken out of the stack". or like its "used".

Im not an expert on servers but i remember the bookmarks madness back in the day made a lot of stress on the server this might clear up some ?

So, first of all, due to the way the database functions, BPCs can't be stacked. Stacked items are generic items with no special attributes other than what's already in the item database, so it can be stored as you have X of whatever. Once you research a BPO or make a BPC it has specific attributes (in this case ME, PE and Runs), so, with the way the database works, to stack them, you'd have to have a database entry for every single possible combination which would quickly bloat the database. The only way to avoid that would be a very costly DB rewrite to totally overhaul item tracking.

That said, it would be nice to have some ways to mitigate the problems.
As far as characters go, it would be much appreciated to have multiple personal hangar tabs like corps have.
Adding a new industry job that combines the jobs of BPCs into a single BPC might be workable, but it would have to be limited to BPCs with the same ME and PE, and you likely wouldn't be able to use them for multiple jobs (to do that they'd have to add another attribute for max jobs)

As far as cans go, once POSes are finally gone, most of the problems associated with them should go away as well including the horrible can access issues. In a station, which the new structures count as for these purposes, Blueprints are better managed from the industry screen rather than directly from the inventory.

It would be neat to be able to have a special container specifically for storing blueprints. Something that only takes up maybe 1m3 with the same capacity would be enough to store multiple blueprints in one spot without eating up a bunch of limited space like having a bunch of small containers would (yeah, they are small, but a dozen of them adds up)

For me it just lags to hell when organizing these bpc's and yes problem with can access at pos will get fixed with station/EC structures but the 1k limit still exists and will not be fixed.

Please use the existing thread for discussing this idea.

EDIT: Wait a second, you posted in that one. Why the duplicate?
