Hey all, forgive me for being such a noob but I have a question on overloading. When you overload does that use capacitor as well and how much?

Not directly, no. Overloading simply "heats up" the modules you currently have fitted. It will not draw capacitor power from your ship.

However... if a module's "overload trait" is to cycle faster than normal (example: armor repairer) then you will see capacitor consumption go up.
You can check a module's stats and traits in the Info window. Simply right-click the module in question.

Check out Eve Fitting Tool or Pyfa, they both give a lot of good help for experimenting with fitting ships and what difference changes do.

https://o.smium.org/ is also sufficient for this exercise if you don't want to download anything (and keep it updated) but the other two are more feature rich.

Overloading is simply getting "extra performance" but taking the risk to burn out (and destroy) your modules. Even the veterans sometimes forget to turn it off in time, or overdo it, in the heat of battle. And depending on where you are, a station with repair facilities may not be available, and if you look at the cost of the nanite repair paste that you can use for repairing your modules in flight, it's relatively expensive.

Everyone overloads in PVP, because:

- the fights are very fast; you're either dead or you've won, in a few seconds
- anything, even 2%, can give you an edge in PVP
- you can't take your time in PVP, because the target's friends are on their way already
