Take the item out of a ship's cargo bay. Make sure it is in the station inventory folder.

Right-click the item.

In the menu there should be various options.
> Almost all items can be sold on the market. Those that can't can be sold via contracts (another option on the right click menu)
> Only some items can be reprocessed into minerals.

Be sure to check the market price (also found in the right-click menu... "View Market Price") before doing either. The sell price that automatically comes up is not always the best price the item can be sold at**.

**Note that almost everything in the game is harvested, collected, sold, and bought by players. Only a few select items are sold to NPCs at a set price.

You may need to Repair and then Repackage said items before being able to list them on the market.

"reprocess or sell as is?"

You need to figure that out for yourself.
The game offers everything you need for that.

Everyone does it different. Some people just sell everything on the market. Some people sell everything worth less than 1 million isk. Figuring out how much stuff is worth and if it is worth reprocessing or not is time consuming. Depending on how much stuff you have and how great the difference is between what you'd get selling and melting and also depending on how much you would make in the same amount of time doing what you do will effect how you make the decision.

Your goals figure in as well. For example when I run null sec anoms I mostly run them for the minerals that I get from reprocessing the loot. So I am not looking to make as much isk as possible but get as many minerals as possible. So I put everything in a big station container and when it starts getting close to full, I go through and pull out the few items that I know are worth a lot more than the reprocessed value like higher meta DCUs for example. Other than a few items like that I melt pretty much everything.

However my goals my be different from yours. At the end of the day it's just a game so do what is fun. If you like sorting through loot then spend a lot of time doing so. If sorting through loot gets in the way of you having fun then just do whatever to make the stuff go away and don't worry about max isk for each little item.

I forgot to mention on thing:

If you select a bunch of stuff and start the process of reprocessing you will get a quote window first and in that quote window it shows all of the stuff that you intend to reprocess and puts a yellow caution triangle with an exclamation mark in it on top of any items that might be worth more if you sold them outright.

I am not certain how the server calculates this nor if it is different region by region but it is a tool available and you can read up more on it if you like.

Also you can use tools like eve-central to see what items are worth at mark hubs if you are not in a region with a major market hub.

^^^

This is the one the OP is looking for - just quoting for emphasis.

The dead swans lay in the stagnant pool. They lay. They rotted. They turned Around occasionally. Bits of flesh dropped off them from Time to time. And sank into the pool's mire. They also smelt a great deal.

Just to add: There are a few items which you can't sell on the market. Not many, but a few. not modules though. Elite Drone AI for one.

Sell or reprocess is as stated above a personal choice so you will have to experiment and decide what is right for your.

I tend to reprocess everything I get and store the ore for use in my current limited building of things. No better "free" source of minerals than reprocessing those things you acquire through other activities.
