Incorrect. CCP have stated many times what they want EVE to be, and none of it aligns with what you think it should be. There is no 'peaceful' in EVE and never will be. That's what EVE is, no redefining needed, and that's what it's always been, and will always be. If it becomes something else due to a hijacking by players it was never intended for, then it's no longer EVE, and thus, EVE dies.

Sol is not defining the game, it's already been defined. Sol is also right that it doesn't matter what is wanted by the 'carebears'. After all, you don't buy a car racing game and expect it to be anything but a car racing game. You don't buy an FPS while demanding it be an RTS. Likewise, if you get into EVE without understanding what it is to begin with, you don't demand it change to suit you.

You change to suit EVE.

Adapt or die.

Because make no mistake, whether the servers get shut down, or EVE becomes not EVE anymore, either way, EVE dies.

+1

This is EVE.
Even for new players. Even for high sec players.

The problem is, most gamers don't want that out of a game. Most gamers want to be lied to, told that they are an epic and invincible hero while playing a game on rails that won't let them fail. EVE is one of the few that still (for now at least) says the opposite of all that. Some people who post here want to change that, good thing they don't work for ccp.

Sorry, real life got very busy.

It is absolutely irrelevant what they want in this game ...

The reason is simply that they want to deny those the gameplay that ks allowed based on said rules and laws ...

So, even if people want to be left alone, there is no "i play how i want"-argument,
especially not when it goes against the game itself.

Disagree entirely. It's not up to you to define the game, CCP doesn't even have full control over it. The second you define what the game is you are professing that somehow it is 'some' way. This is the fatal flaw of the "EVE is..." historical perspective. It wants to limit the boundaries of how to play the game based on how the game was defined a decade ago. It's grown WAAAAY beyond that.

CCP clearly no longer agrees with those old definitions and they like the money from those peaceful, complacent Carebears. This is why I said you're trying to ice skate uphill. Not only do I not have it backwards, I'm looking forward to greater inclusion of people because that is where CCP's drive is.

So you guys can keep putting forward your "EVE is..." definition all you want but you do so while risking utter denial of what a large portion of EVE's current player base wants.

The "I play how I want..." argument is founded on current player base concepts that like the expanded boundaries of the sandbox. Go ahead and try to collapse them back, but advocating doing such risks the game itself, far beyond what your concerns about stagnation and game death are. I think you'd kill the game in a matter of months, not years.

CCP is trying to expand their player base and cater to the Carebears, they just gave the gankers a bump timer. I don't think I'm the one that has it backwards at all, but I'll wear whatever label you want to give me. I'm just being realistic with EVE as it currently is.

Except that it's not me defining the game ...
... the game's rules define the game.

Do you understand the difference?

The "i play how i want" is mostly ignoring how the game works ...
... which has nothing to do with opinions, no matter how hard you to to frame it as such.

CCP obviously agrees with the definition, because 1. New Player FAQ ...
... 2. because they don't remove the mechanics that make the game.

"The "I play how I want..." argument is founded on current player base concepts that like the expanded boundaries of the sandbox. "

Expand on that, because that statement is empty. The "i play how i want" crowd is full of ignrorance and haters who want things how they want them, ignoring that others have far more base than them, because these others actually play the game according to rules and laws and not trying to circumvent them.

PS: "I'm just being realistic with EVE as it currently is."
No, you're mostly ignorant of it.
