Custom Channel MOTD max length is crippled

Whenever i log back into the game, the MOTD in my custom channels gets reset to to a fixed value per channel like 418-506 characters, when the listed maximum should be 4000. When i change it, itt remembers the full MOTD until i log out of the game, then cuts it down to the *maximum* when i log in again.
While i used a lot of solar system links, the options window still only shows the MOTD to be far below the maximum size, so i think this is not working as intended. Or it could just be increased accordingly. Please.
