Camera Zoom without input.

Played eve for quite some time (read 5 years) - left for a year or so as RL got real busy, decided to come back as a fresh character see how things are. Did my best to keep up on changes but the new camera was really jarring. Anyway after some monkeying around with turning things on and off I could get it to function as I used to use it with the exception of one thing that I cannot get changed.

Everytime I click something in my overview (after a session change) my camera zooms way the hell out, extremely disorienting. I have tracking enabled so that my camera will turn to the object I'm looking at, and after correcting it once between session changes (ie. after every stargate jump) it's fine until the next session change. Is there any way to avoid this, any setting I can disable to prevent it from happening? I know I can get used to having to deal with it every time I jump into a new system, but should I? Also seems like the type of thing that is probably not working as intended, though I've been wrong on that in the past also.

Any help would be appreciated.

First thing I'd do is press ESC and look at the keyboard shortcuts for camera control, make sure you haven't assigned left click or Mouse Button 1 to the Zoom Out or something like that. Beyond that, I'm not sure.

Hmm ya checked to be sure (definately didn't change hotkeys) but that's not it. Thing is it only happens on the first object I select upon entering a system, once I've zoomed back in, I can click on other things and don't experience it, that is until I enter another system. All I can think of is session changes are causing the client to forget what zoom level I want when focusing on overview items, which seems like a bug more than anything - was just hoping there was some setting that might prevent this - that I couldn't track down.

Yup, a bug is possible, although the fact that it's not widely reported (and I don't have it) seems to indicate that it may be on your computer rather than at the servers.

Next thing I'd do would be to start the EVE Launcher and clear the cached data; there are two locations for cache and two options, use both of them.

If that doesn't fix the issue, when you start the EVE Launcher, click the E settings button at the top right, and choose Start LogLite; this will start an error logging application. Minimize it, log into EVE, duplicate your error, then exit EVE and from LogLite choose File -> Save Log.

Then use the support webpage to submit a ticket, and attach the log file. They have a better chance of figuring out what the issue is, if you have a log file attached to your ticket.

EDIT: just to eliminate this possibility: you don't have a programmable / gaming mouse, do you? I'm using something like Logitech SetPoint, which lets me change what the mouse clicks and all buttons do, and that would also cause this kind of problem, although with every click not just the first one.
