Scanning question

So I derp'd and left my MTU at a cosmic anomaly. I cleared the anomaly so it doesn't appear in the ship scanner anymore. I grabbed a T1 probe frigate to try and scan it down and although I can pinpoint down to 0.7AU @ 15 degrees, I can't seem to scan it down - even on the smallest pinpoint formation.

Does this mean that the MTU's signature radius is too small for me to scan down? Or am I just doing something else horribly wrong?

Are you using an expanded probe launcher and combat probes (have to ask just to be sure)? Does your signature filter includes structures? Is it a regular MTU or one of the advanced versions which are hard to probe down?

I'm my own NPC alt.

Thanks, this answered my question. I was indeed doing it horribly wrong as I was just using regular probes as opposed to combat.

The more you know.

Sounds like you were using Directional Scan.

Anyway, Tipa Riot seems to have set you on the right path.

Good luck to you.
