Salvage tabs

I would like to see a info tab on salvage similar to that on skills such as "required for" or "used in". I think it would help people who salvage ships know what they have.

In character salvagers would have this information at hand it would be part of their knowledge base.

Or you could look them up on a rig bpo.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

The main problem is that is demand based knowledge instead of supply based knowledge, when you should have both.

Fellow players have this covered via 3rd party.

Here's one: https://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/salvage/

However, for the idea of having 'what this is used for' in the info tab has 2 main problems:

  • Number of items it's used for. (imagine doing this with Tritanium...)
  • Changes...adding new items. If CCP adjusts the amount of x-salvage in a particular item, then changing the BP is all they need to do in game as far as getting information to the players. If they have to go through every item that x-salvage is used on, then something is going to get messed up.

For example... Advanced Weapons Upgrades had its requirements recently adjusted from Weapons Upgrades 5 to WU 4. However last I checked (last week) the information tab still had AWU as needing WU 5.

Edit:
Just to be clear, I would love to see this type of information in-game, but right now there's too many technical and practical reasons stalling this idea.

What if instead of salvage tabs they simply implemented a keyword search for the market that included input materials so you could type burned sensor and all items with burned sensor whether it be the item or all recipes with that item in it would show up filtered.

Now that's something I could support for eventual release, especially if there was a "used in" checkbox. There will be times that a pilot won't want to know what broken armor plates are used for, just how much they sell for in that region. Smile
