While running the Plagioclase Shortage Opportunity in a belt today five Circadian's warped in for the third time to the belt. This time I didn't attack trying to prompt a Drifter response to try and lure the Drifters to my POS to kill them. Instead I followed the Seekers around the belt as they scanned.

It was interesting because they only scanned Plagioclase type asteroids as well as a single drone and my mining barge. Are they trying to build a data base of what is being mined to then send to the Drifters who would then possibly attack such operations to otherwise thwart Capsuleer missions against the Angel Cartel and Serpentis?

Are the Drifter the guardians of the Pirate Factions? What is even more interesting is that when one of the Circadian had finished their scan of an area where I had mined out a Plagioclase rock they turned their scanner on me. The encounter was almost as if they were telling me that they knew it had been my ship that had mined the rock close to Plagioclase rock they had just scanned.

But why? Why would they be so interested in my barge named Jodi's Soul and what I had recently mined? Am I part of a list they are building of miners to then send to the Drifters so the Drifters will have a list of the lifeblood of New Eden to attack in large numbers to keep New Eden from massing fleets once the Drifter's grand scheme has been revealed?

What is their reasoning and purpose for their scans? A simple data base gathering mission in simplest terms to say the least.

One of the bigger questions regarding Drifters is why hasn't any salvage team been able to extract their weaponry, propulsion and system upgrades from the destroyed Drifter battleships?

There has to be a way to get those weapon and propulsion systems out of the wrecks without destroying them?

Maybe a specialized salvage ship with a cloned Drifter Commander tethered to the salvage ship via pod and implants will allow the Nanite Salvage Extractor to identify key sub defense systems of the destroyed Drifter ship. Once identified the Cloned Drifter Commander would be used to send to commands to the systems to not cause the salvaged system to explode during the process of extraction but would send commands to the system that it was being replaced.

Computer - But if all of the Drifter ships and components are made from the same print and materials and the exact specifications and design process built into each module and and system wouldn't the system know that replacing a faulty module was a trick to steal the module because the module should have been faulty or not even placed on the ship to begin with at the ship yard?

Very true. But Drifter ships do become damaged from time to from from unexpected issues wouldn't they?

Computer - Drifters expect everything so how would the module be damaged from an unexpected issue when the systems are built from the Drifters immense libraries of data that they have gathered during their entire existence?

Computer - The only way that any modules from a Drifter ship will ever be able to be recovered is if you are able to find a Drifter shipyard or assembly facility or storage depot. In the likely event that you do locate one of the three locations the locations will be heavily guarded and rigged with explosives to insure Drifter technology does not fall into Capsuleer hands.

I had a strange experience with the seekers the other day.

I had actually been reading some of the lore behind the seekers, particularly around their current unknown motives and the fact that they have been seen in K space scanning down our tech.

Well lo and behold the Llamas of FURY were returning from a few Serpentis sorties and happened across a gate that had a contingent of Seekers sitting about 5km off running their scans. I hadn't yet read up on their capabilities or difficulties so my fleet member and I, probably a little too emboldened by our recent victories in a few sorties, made the rash decision to engage them in destroyers after watching them for a few minutes and me explaining the lore that I had learned so far to my fleet member.

Needless to say we both managed to get away intact after copping a rather good flogging. We both warped out to separate stations in the system to repair.

Here's where it gets a little strange. The following night I happened to return to this station to pick up some gear and upon undocking after about 10 minutes, noted that a small group of seekers had appeared in the system and had formed up in a small cluster about 300 - 500kms off from the station, essentially out in the middle of nowhere.

I got a bit spooked so started aligning to the nearest gate and noted a few miss notifications pop up - they were shooting at me from that long distance off.

As I understand it they will generally leave you alone if you leave them alone? It felt strongly like they were following me or were waiting for me to come out of the station, 24 hours (realtime) after we attacked them. I like a little role play so getting very immersed in the lore behind Eve and very interested to know what is going on. Especially if I now have some unknown ships stalking me around the system!

Odd Circadian Seeker behavior today..
I was investigating a faint signal near a know Jovian Observatory in my sector. As I slowly drifted towards it, the Seekers began to aggress me!

Normally they run their scanners and probe my ship. Today I let me guard down taking photos, and I was taking fire.

I managed to escape with my Gila hull intact, but it was scary how aggressive they came at me.

Regarding to the odd behaviour reported by the two last posters, it was highlighted in the Aurora News section last year: Circadian Seekers retaliate!

The subsection 'Seekers retaliate' will show this behaviour has been in effect for a good time. Some additions however as some info is outdated. Seekers can attack if you approach their structures too close (similar to Drifters, albeit the aggressive behaviour of Seekers is far less consistent)

Also: If you attack them & then flee, they will pursue you as long as you remain in system; re-entering the system too soon will make them continue their pursuit of you. The duration of this chasing-behaviour isn't known. Sometimes it's merely 10 minutes, other times (as expressed above) they do not forget & keep going after you every time you enter the system.

In short: Seeker aggressive behaviour is far from consistent & ranges from 'accepting their fate of destruction' to 'relentless pursuit lasting through time & death'. yes kill m and they come back, more heavily armed & more bloodthirsty for your shipfragments.
Only engage Seekers if you are ready for the (worst) consequences.

Note: compared to Drifters, seekers are still easy. Just don't underestimate their determination to get you.

Bit of an update, after a long period of time of no sightings noted a single circadian seeker sitting of a gate in high sec accompanied by a Drifter battleship, first time I have seen one of those in the area.

Usually the Seekers travel in a small fleet of 4-5. Have never seen a lone one let alone accompanied by a drifter

Strange indeed
