Pilot a charon without correct skill, what Im I missing?

Why does it say a charon requires advanced spaceship command V? My alt pilot one fine with level IV what have I missed?

If I recall correctly, the skill requirements changed some time ago.

As long as you have the **primary skill** (in this case, Caldari Freighter) trained before the skill changes go live... you should be able to fly the ship.

How did you Veterans start?

If you look at the list of skills (example here), it's a tree, which means that:

Caldari Freighter 1 is required to fly the ship. Once you have it, you can fly the ship.

But you cannot insert the Caldari Freighter skill into your head until you train Adv. Spaceship Command to 5, and you cannot insert the Adv. Spaceship Command skill until you train Spaceship Command to 5. If you were to start a new character today, you'd have to train these other skills to inject the Caldari Freighter skill.

But you already have that skill in your character sheet, so you can still fly the ship regardless of what changes CCP makes or has recently made. You just won't be able to learn Gallente Freighter to fly the Obelisk, for example, until you train up to meet the new requirements.
