They tried to sell 1bil ISK worth of +1 implants along with other things there weren't a demand for, blamed me that nobody bought it, and they think I'm dumb for buying fuel from people.

I like the idea of finding a neutral/freindly WH system now and then. With 2500 wormholes a few freeports shouldn't ruin anything. But I see how a citadel like yours may be sieged just because it is easy to seed ships. People are lazy and most want an easy kill, not a good fight. But maybe some corps would come and help you defend it, I would.

I think it is a great idea,
could be a good training ground for newbro (alphas) to get a taste of wh life.
what kind of mining is there? a lot of miners or not many?
good luck and glad to see what your trying to do.

The idea isn't all that crazy, but man... gotta follow through. No one is gonna bother if it smells flaky

Unfortunately, another prime example of how vulnerable a significant assett without any defensive backbone is. This might have been a very different story, if the effort was propped up by a small pvp-savy wormhole group that was already in the habit of wh-logistics and life.

I've been following this closely, as it has some parallels (and some differences) to how we've handled things.

After a lot of consideration, we decided against a true freeport design due to what we deemed unfeasible security concerns, opting instead for a WH alliance that allows for small corps to operate loosely under that umbrella.

We maintain our own defense fleet (relying on mercs, has been, in my experience, problematic), own all POCOs and a Fortizar for the market. Minimal POCO tax (1%) and minimal market and refinery tax (0.5%). Then, we simply put in buy orders at 80% Jita for anything that can be sourced nearby (PI, ore, gas) and sell orders at 90% Jita (to allow for haulers to make ISK exporting on a regular basis). Anything that is sourced outside goes at higher than Jita, since it accounts for transport costs and time.

Wormhole life is tough, but we've found if you are willing to be careful and patient, you can certainly reap its rewards.

Since the beginning we kept saying this was a stupid idea that was hyped by the ability of establishing a market in wormhole space. Frankly I am surprised people actually invested in it. Whoever has proceeded with this proposal I doubted whether he actually lived in a WH even for a few days.

Nobody was gonna do pve in a wh with other neutrals, not even 3-5 wh jumps away. You are gonna lose your ships so fast if you do this. Forget mercs, even organized standing corp fleets won't save you if you do that.

Null freeports are a thing because its impossible to grind sov as a solo person or a few. And you have to pay rent to renters. You still have local, so you can rat in empty systems nearby or distinguish regulars from hostiles.

Its so easy to set up in a wh even for a solo dude nobody needs a freeport wh. And for all the pvp reasons you might ever need a public wh you already have Thera. And not even Thera market is that great.
