Every patch for Crucible has failed for me, and I have had to reinstall the entire damn client. The repair function wont work, error message: "[no messageLabel: Infrastructure/RepairTool/AnotherProcessRunningInFolder for languageID: ru]"

Anybody got any thoughts? Re-installing the client takes 2 days for me, since I have abysmal internet speed.

Despite the missing translation (which I apologise for, I thought all the texts had been translated properly, but that's another issue) the label should at least give you an idea what's possibly causing the problem:

AnotherProcessRunningInFolder

Could you open your Task Manager, and see if there's an exefile.exe or ExeFile.exe or even an eve.exe process running at all? if there is, then can you kill it, and rerun the Repair Tool? The issue is that there's a process running from the folder, that you're attempting to repair, and as such, since you would probably repair the file in use, it won't let you proceed, since it would run into a WindowsError saying that one of the files was locked and unable to update.

As for the patching, do you have any error messages or popups that detail what the error is?

I really want to get to the bottom of these issues, so if you have any information that you can give me, that would be wonderful Smile

I tried ending process, and the same thing occurs.
I just gave up and have started re-installing.

Can you elaborate a little on this; was there a running process? did you start the game up in between trying to repair?

I'm fixing the translation issue at the moment, so if there's a missing translation (in your case, into Russian) it will report the English one simply so that you have some idea. Ideally we wouldn't release any updates that don't have full translation, and for that I apologise.

Do you have any information about the error in patching at all?

Yes, there was a running process, that I killed - and I did try to start the game. Error message displayed, can't remember what the message was - but it recommended I repair again. I repeated this

I ended that task, and tried patching again. It runs for a few minutes, then the same error pops out.

For every patch so far, I've had the same error.

I reinstalled from scratch, patch still fails, repair tool won't even open. Now this is just on one of my several gaming rigs but it's a pain in the butt..

I AM running XP on this older machine but everything worked to Incarna. I get no error message, the repair tool simply won't start. And I have made sure everything is current, OS, Drivers, etc.

Also, this is a dedicated gaming rig. It has nothing on it except the OS, EVE, and any software required for the infrastructure...

I once had an issue with EFT crashing pretty much without fail every time i tried to open it and it turned out to be an issue with Roxio CD Burner software having a handle on one of EFT's data files and since EFT couldn't access it it'd crash.

Maybe similar?

I am also getting this now. Funny thing is The patch actually finished yesterday. I have been online. Shut down computer last night.

Win7 64bit.

Now when i try to start the client the following happens:

1. Crucible splash screen appears,

2.
Verification Failure:
Your eve client installation may have modified .... etcetc.
File not found: C:\Program Files (x86)\CPP\EVE - buck\bin\_trinity_deploy.dll

In Task Manager I can see an ExeFile.exe*32 open

3.
okay on error message.

4. checked in my folder C:\Program Files (x86)\CPP\EVE - buck\bin\_trinity_deploy.dll does not exist

5. in my folder C:\Program Files (x86)\CPP\ i run the repair.exe

6. Dialogue titled Update Available -
A new version is available, do you wish to update?

7. Dialogue titled Errors occurred
'C:\Users\heater\AppData\Local\Temp\nsf6BCE.tmp\repair.exe.log' for details

now i have repeated the whole process several times. and have tried to restart PC and immediately run repair.exe, in case there was an eve process open that i didn't know of. But the repair tool will always report that message.

The Temp\folder name changes a little

8. checking the repair.exe.log file itself:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "repair.py", line 270, in module
File "updateSelf.pyc", line 96, in UpdateSelf_nt
File "tempfile.pyc", line 293, in mkstemp
File "tempfile.pyc", line 228, in _mkstemp_inner
OSError: Errno 13 Permission denied: 'C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE - Buck\repair.exe_qj6e0e'

The number after the repair.exe_XXXXXX also seems to be a generated number.

anyhow, i have decided to try run the repair.exe in C:\Users\heater\AppData\Local\Temp\nsf6BCE.tmp.

lets see how that goes.

Followed a suggestion by a poster above, ran the repair tool with admin right, and it proceed pass the preivous point.

-started "downloading update"
-The repair tool found the following process running in the folder it is trying to repair:
"c:\program files (x86)\daemon tools lite\dtlite.exe"

You must close this process before continuing with the repair.

What does daemon tools have to do with eve update?

It went on to report every other exe open... including avg.exe.... i stopped at this point.

repair.exe tool gg??

Fixed!.

i closed down every brower etc.

ran the repair tool again, using the "as administrator option".

It loaded a nice UI that detected _trinity_deploy.dll was missing and has progressed to fix my client.

This is the first patch update I have had problems with. I too had the message that the update failed about not locating the... I forget the word that was used but I believe it was referring to the patch file to download. I tried this multiple times then reverted to the 3 manual update files Eve offers to do the update. Prior to downloading the 3 files a buddy of mine suggested to uninstall the game and reinstall it. So that's where I started the 3 file download. The install was successful but now I get this message upon trying to sign in, "Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."

I obviously have a internet connection and have contacted support but haven't heard from them yet. Its been about three days since i emailed them.

The contents of this folder will probably have been purged by the time you read this, but I would have loved to get a copy of the log that it wrote out. That would have helped narrow down the error that you were having.

@CCP

Can I make a silly suggestion?

Should you not get the repair tool and patcher to check for any currently running Eve process that would prevent them from patching / repairing the client successfully? Then if such a process is found at least offer the user the option of closing that conflicting Eve process gracefully to allow the repair / patch to continue. This makes sense to me but what do I know?

I am a little confused as to why the processes would be still be running anyway and if so how come it is not more obvious as surely the Eve client will be present somewhere like the taskbar etc or is it simply not exiting correctly and leaving itself in memory at times?

Ok I seen a shortcut that said Eve "Safe Mode" so I used it to try and start the game. I got the same message about the bad connection. Upon clicking my start menu button, where the "Eve Safe Mode" was, is now a, Eve Repair button. So I clicked it and this is what it sent me; "See the logfile 'C:\Users\Turd\AppData\Local\Temp\nsw3669.tmp\repar.exe.log' for details". I tried following the route to the repair.exe.log but once I get in the Turd file there is no AppData file to continue. I tried Searching the file as well and came up with nothing.
