only if the furnace is on Big smile . The only time I''ve seen account sharing banned was when the original owner brought notice to a gm

tl;dr: YES THEY WILL

anecdotal evidence says otherwise.

Over the time I have played EVE I have noticed several occasions on which corp or alliance assets (your corp's only Orca pilot etc) were shared via account sharing as well as situations in which friends updated skills for players who couldn't log in themselves.

If CCP were actively looking to detect account sharing (storing & comparison of IPs, MAC addresses, OS fingerprints, whatever...) these people should have been investigated and received punishment. They didn't.

Therefore my belief (based on these experiences) is that while CCP can of course ban you for account sharing they usually won't do so unless the sharing results in a dispute or is explicitly brought to their attention.

I actually petitioned one instance of account sharing and the GM refused to take action against the player who had used the shared account info (the account's owner was banned because of a different issue) on the basis of a "no harm was done" argument.

Then there is the whole issue of sharing accounts with other household members which is usually undetectable for CCP...

Unconditionally saying "THEY WILL" does not seem justified (and that they can if they want to was never in question).

I have two PCs, one at work, one at home. I use both for playing eve, with the same account (at different times, obviously). I get banned for account sharing. Congratulations, your method for detecting account sharing just got a non-sharing player blocked.

CCP will ban your account if you account share, and they notice it. They don't really look for it, as it's as hard as bot detection. (Harder, actually, as you don't have biometrics to prove who you are.)

If they /know/ you account share, banhammer.

I'd wager you left yourself online at home or work a few times and bumped your account offline to login from the other place. That or you live close to work and logged in quickly enough from both sites to the same account.

Repeated logins from 2 different IP locations like that within a short timeframe is a relatively easy to detect sign of account sharing.

But it's not 100% proof either. :)

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

You will have a falling out with your "friend."

He will steal your account.

You will be butthurt and emorage.

You will petition and **** up the forums with how bad CCP customer service is.

They're all gonna laugh at you.

Just one more thing..

RMT

lets say you sell your account on e-bay. How are GMs suppose to find out if its friendly account sharing ? Thats probably the reason why it is severe violation of EULA.

Or maybe not..

I don't really care about this subject, but when CCP staff refuse to answer a direct question like that with a direct answer, I die a little inside. The question was will CCP ban an account for sharing, or not.

Thought it was common knowledge that if you have a titan purchased for you, you enter into video game slavery... phone lists... structure grinds and genereally ever other form of evil backing up my decision to never train cap skills (aside from basic carrier stuff to move ships about).

I've forced my own accounts to logoff by just having multiple clients running (4 to 6), and forgetting which ones were already logged-in.

I'll then notice a client window is logged-out, and log it in again a second time. Usually when I see a client get logged-out a second time I realize it isn't a network drop.

So I have to agree that it isn't 100% proof.

You got more than "maybe" from that?

What part of "any and all account sharing is forbidden" didn't you understand? He answered you in the first sentence. The rest was just explanation of the policy.

I can't decide if I'm more disappointed in kids today or in the fact that I pay taxes to pay the teachers that give such an abysmal education.

Does CCP actually ban player for sharing account? I know it is against the EULA, but what happens if I do it anyway?

Assuming that I share account with other people, and won't bother the GM with petitions if I get hacked since it's my own fault, is there anything I have to worry about?

Thanks.
