Hello all.

I’ve been reading this forum for a few weeks now and I think it would be fair in some ways to say that it’s like a lot like many other parts of EVE. Essentially being one of incomplete and missed opportunity.

You expect to see threads on speculation to be here (with all the range of varied responses). There are other forums for buying and selling so they won’t really be here. However, people are not really going to talk about the market too much in the present or future tense as I would expect that information is sometimes worth a bit and not given away for free!

There is talk of investment but It seems trust is obviously the thing that keeps popping up as a show stopper for any loan or investment type activities – and given there are no effective in game remedies - fair enough too!

So unless you can put up collateral for something it may be tough to get going is my take on it. I’ve read some older threads as well and it must be tough as an investor.

Yeah, also margin trading scams. It’s been nicer to find about that one the easy way.

Personally I love the concept of futures trading. I follow it but don’t ever dabble in it even though my online trading account begs me to try. I would have thought there would be something like this around? But I guess without getting people to pay up for margin calls it could be tough.

So to my subject what is this forum for? And to be a bit more constructive, what would you like to see?

Market Discussion is "General Market Discussion".

For Sale, Looking to Buy, Price Checking, etc., etc.. all used to be in one singular forum much to the dismay of all involved. To declutter the forums specialized forums were spliced off into their own realms. This one remains for all other economic discussions that do not fit the limited rules of the other forums.

I.e. Discussion is not allowed in sale/service/auction threads. However some sales/services/auction threads absolutely require a certain amount of cross talk that is specifically not allowed in the other forums. Thus this one will often be used as the place for those discussions.

This forum is "whatever else market related that is already covered by another."

Speculation and market trend discussion mostly. Along with bonds and scam ipo's.

It's also Akita T's personal playground ;)

Large volumes of highly researched Ammo, drones, charges and ship bpo's. Biggest BPO store in EVE! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=445524#post445524

I'd agree that I _might_ expect more discussions about the valuation, current price, depth of markets in items that are close to what you'd see in the real world.

However, the markets are relatively inneffecient here.. often extremely inefficient and very large segments of the profits of many of us making out isk fortunes trading stem from those inefficiencies.

Having a market to yourself or two or three other players is a critical difference in how much profit you can reap for the least efffort adjusting prices for the longest period of time.

I don't even want to talk about the class of object to risk giving ideas to potential competitors who might go in and cut my profits reseelling 100s of things and dozens of stations at 1 million profit per transaction with only needing to look in once a month or less on those orders.

If I come to check them a month later and someone had beat my price at that station (by .01 or by 50k isk .. it wouldn't matter)... i've just lost a month worth of sales there.

On a side note, I would love to see some sort of personalisation of sales (ie branding for your product). You could therefore compete on more then just the bottom line of the product. People could (and would) support certain sellers in particular regions, and you could have your big chain companies along with your corner store merchants selling the odd case of Antimatter L
