Microsoft XP support ended April 8th, 2014.

Ya, time to upgrade!

However, I personally refuse to upgrade to Windows 10, because of its data harvesting [which has been proven to still harvest even when explicitly configured not to].

It's not always understood that a number of us are refusing to go to Windows 10 for that and a couple of other reasons. I can handle Windows 8.1, and prefer 7 for ease of use, and again, the lack of Microsoft's harvesting of *ME*.

you know windows 7 and 8 have been updated to collect data aswell?

I always wonder what people will do when the support for 7 and 8 drop since the upgrade scheme make it much more likely it won't last really long anyway.

Windows 8 has superior resource management and much faster boot times.

The interface is also superior if you're a power user as a simple right click allows you to access everything from a command prompt with admin rights to the vanilla control panel. The metro interface has a superior search capability and the organization of installed applications is far better.

Only people who are stuck in time and unable to adapt a little would refuse to utilize a superior OS. Reminds me of the people who complained about windows being worthless and useless because DOS was "good enough". In their view Windows was just an unneeded mess that hogged resources because it was piled on top of DOS. Even when windows 3 rolled around the DOS diehards clinged to their dying ways.

I'm hoping for a native Linux version of EVE, not the Wine version.

Not for some time as they are planning to keep dx9 around for a while longer. Especially when you consider that windows 10 is only just now getting to roughly 20% usage. Windows 7 in comparison is around 40%.

What do you want to optimize with multi-threading?
