Launcher not launching & unable to submit bug report

After tonight's DT there was a small patch.

After that downloaded the new launcher would not launch any of my accounts.

I re-installed the launcher (I had to do this in a separate folder which I named EvE2) - same result only now I have to re-enter the account names etc for each of my accounts.

I started loglite & this was the only error message:-

t Couldn't copy file: C:/ProgramData/CCP/EVE/SharedCache/tq/bulkdata/metadata.yaml

I checked & that file existed.

I was able to run EvE using the old exe file.

I attempted to submit a bug report (as above) but when I pressed "submit" nothing happened.

At this point I've had enough & I'm going to bed.

This could stem from permission issues - try going to Settings, Shared Cache Settings and press the Permissions... button to let the launcher fix the permissions of the shared cache folder. Note that this may take several minutes.

If this doesn't help, try deleting the C:/ProgramData/CCP/EVE/SharedCache/tq folder to let the launcher recreate it. No settings will be lost or anything, they're stored elsewhere.

Thanks for the quick answer.

The permissions tip worked a treat - back in the game.

I installed Windows 10 upgrade yesterday & launching Eve worked yesterday. Tried launching it today & got the exact same error as Zunnta. Tried fixing the Shared Cache/Permissions & this fixed it!

Thanks CCP Snorlax & thanks Zunnta for logging the query.

I'd like to know why permissions issues are occuring in the games own files.

I'd like to know why I have to manually get it to fix this error, when the solution clearly could have been seemless.

I'd also like to know why the app it launches is so badly put together. The last thing I need when my EVE client has corrupted itself is to be forced to watch the launcher, a dialog box and a dos box not responding and clearly demonstrating CCP's lack of respect for my time. Make it play nicely with other applications, or do not release it.
