#1 - 2016-06-01 17:25:31 UTC  |  Edited by: Lunarisse Aspenstar

In light of the successful contest the last two years I am pleased to announce the third year for a writing contest for stories or poems by Capsuleers .

This year's contest will be judged differently. In response to past criticisms, I've tried to secure a more balanced panel. There will be three judges per category:

Thal Vadam
Aldrith Shutaq
Mengyao Chemineau

Silver Night

Nicoletta Mithra
Sammie McWinters
Morwen Lagann

There is no minimum length. Maximum length is 30,000 words. There is no required subject matter; the content may be fiction or non-fiction. All entries will be considered. Submissions are to be made by posting on Eve Forums - Eve Fiction or on . Your post should specifically reference at the outset that it is being submitted for consideration in the YC 117 New Eden Capsuleer's Writing Contest. If you have a good reason why you want to make a private submission, then contact me privately as to why.

Deadline for submissions is October 30th of this year.

Winners will be announced at the a special gala in November Date TBD/Time TBD at the Golden Masque
(Thank you Morwen Lagann!).

The contest into has three categories Poetry, Prose, Non-Fiction (News/Treatises/Etc.) with three awards for each.
2nd; 300 million
3rd: 100 million
Honorable Mentions: At Judge's Discretion - 20 million isk

Winners may be invited to give a reading at the Holy Grape in Emperor Family Station in Amarr (depending on length, the reading may be limited to selected excerpts. Additionally, each of the Judges may, in their discretion, award a personal prize to the favorite (regardless of the "place" of the submission)

All judges and I (as administrator) are disqualified from submission.

All entries will be considered.

if the quality of the entries does not merit the number of prizes, then prizes will be given up to the number deemed meritorious.

if people have any questions or need rulings, I am the contest administrator and you can feel free to message me directly.

The most "amusing" or "entertaining" to me* gets treated to a candlelit dinner by me at a fine restaurant. (( *If not RED to the Society or Me!))

Cordially, and with God's Blessings

((All submissions are expressly subject to the TOS and we certainly do not claim ownership. The submission of course, however, must be yours.

Note for ISD - This is specifically an In Character/Roleplay thing - a writing contest to be done by characters, not the players. The expectation is the submissions, whether poetry, prose or academic ' would be in character or related to the character of to the capsuleer submitting it and people will have rp as part of the process. I also invite comments on the IGS related to this post in a RP vein or other RP in channels! Judging is also on an In character basis.

Entries to Contest will be recorded here so they are not missed in the judging and inserted via edit to avoid multiple posts.

Although due to rules changes, I won't be forced have dinner with Queen Synthia I again... oddly strange or strangly odd that surreal experience may have been.

Vlad Cetes... errr... submitted the first entry on the backstage forums.

My pardon Mr. Cetes, as administrator I can't comment (and my stomach can't handle this sort of reading this early in the morning). I"ll defer to the judges.

Still *weak smile* first entry in and plenty of time (Oct. 30th) for more.

Thank you Karina Ivanovich and Saede Riordan.

Be assured, even Null-seccers and Wormholers will be treated fairly in consideration of the entries and I look forward to reading them, even if i am not a Judge. The entries have been placed on the list for the Judges to review!

Four months left for submissions, deadline is October 30th!

Intriguing! I've never been into Amarr space, so the prospect of being able to go to the Holy Grape of all places is worth aiming for in and of itself (but I'm still taking the ISK if I win). I'll have my submission in soon.

Ms. Aspenstar, I am of course considering submitting a thesis on some of my studies and would like to submit it under the Academics section. I will begin my work on this and hope to have it done in time for submission. I look forward to participate in this endeavor again.

can this story also be on another website? it's not a contest it's my own site.

Let's see I I can take enough time from my research to write something creative. Or maybe I should just upload some academic musings on the uses of arachnoid mobility augments as weapon platforms...

Yes, if you speak to me beforehand (which you did, thank you!) and link the specific article as being your submission.

...oh no. On nonononono. I can NOT let this happen without writing something! Thank you, Academy, if there's one thing I can still do, it's generate a double handful of nonsense on short notice!

Happy writing to everyone. I hope there's some fiction.

if I don't get more submissions. I may have to consolidate categories.

I know there's at least 10 more people out there planning to so do!

Remember the deadline is October 30th!

I am wrestling with a textbook company. I would rather wrestle a bear. But my submission will be released in time.

Would there be an issue/conflict of interest if I also wrote for this contest?

Who would I need to speak to about questions regarding this?

Still planning on submitting my entry. Alas, work has gotten in the way, but I'll have some time to do a proper edit after I close the deal on this order of mining lasers.

Hello, Ms. Aspenstar! Two questions I've been meaning to ask for a while: may these be the works of teams? And do these need to be new works, or may works within the span of the last year be submitted?
