Advice needed: Cheap laptop to play eve

Hi there,

I'm looking at buying a cheapish laptop to just do some uni work, web browsing, and I was hoping play abit of eve. Obviously Im not expecting great graphics, just enough so I can play abit of eve and do some asteroid mining.

I was looking at these 2 options:

I tried to match them up the minimum specs for Eve and they seem to look ok (please correct me if Im wrong).

Do either of these look ok? Thanks!

I'm not sure how helpful this is, or this actually is just the fact that my computer is haggard, but my current computer has the same graphics card and possibly the display driver as the first one you linked and the graphics are pretty awful on close inspection. Kind of looks a little "plastic wrapped" and the computer doesn't run eve all too quickly - pretty laggy, and the display driver crashes on using stargates. Honestly it depends if these things bother you or not, but I'm desperate to get a new computer in a couple weeks time.
None of these issues actually stop you from playing it, however!

My experience has taught me that while a dedicated GPU is helpful, it's by no means necessary for most games just yet. If you have a good CPU, and you turn off some of the fancy features like anti-aliasing, physically-simulated hair, etc. you can get pretty decent framerates with integrated graphics.
For example, I play Eve on a Core i7 with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and get 25-30 FPS in a typical engagement. No, it's not awesome, but it's far from "unplayable".

If you do experience low framerates in certain situations, often the fastest and most effective fix is to zoom out or aim the camera in a different direction. Large clouds that cover half the screen, for instance, make the GPU have to repaint a lot of pixels every frame, but if you zoom out or rotate the camera so they're out of the frame, the framerate bounces back up again. Same deal with those laggy scan bubbles in the solar system map.

Yeah I wouldn't go below 4000HD integrated and those models just say integrated intel so be careful when picking OP.

Those cpu are economy grade i have no idea what goes in them graphic vise.
