I don't like the Horde. And neither should you!

Hello!

For those that know me, I've been called a lot of things. Things such as Caldari loyalist, anti-piracy advocate, Diana Kim's sock puppet and armchair State Peacekeeper Major. For those that really know me, I'm best known for my crazy antics, cutesy disposition, my stylish goggles, a love for all things Guristas and scientific, a deep hatred for the Sansha, poor taste in friendships and a loose sense of morals and ethics!

But what I want to talk about today is simple:

I don't like the organization commonly known as Pandemic Horde. And neither should you!

There has been a epidemic in space, a Pandemic Horde if you will, empowered by the power vacuum left by the crippled Imperium of Bees! We can argue it all we want, but the Grr Goons are not as strong as they were, and it shows. And the consequence os this is this huge glob of people condensed in a single corporation that invites anything and anyone with a pulse. Heck, even I was invited to join them, and quite frankly I wouldn't invite myself to join my own corporation if I could avoid it! But I also have some skewed standards that prevent me from joining faceless organizations! Like the Sansha's Nation!

I've seen people sacrifice their own sense of individuality to join this faceless organization. From the Angels to fellow Guristas, from the Amarr loyalists to the Blood Raiders, from kind to the mean of New Eden. They forgo their personality, their passions, their ideals and dreams to join this Horde, and be another foot soldier in their ranks. No more different than the Imperium they hate so much!

And it is starting to upset me deeply! The last straw was when Mister Mokk, a well known suave Angel Cartel loyalist, joined this "horde" and became another face in the scooter blob!

What will happen if everyone joins the Horde? I'll tell what will happen. Utter chaos! The end of civilization! The Blood Age and whatever crazy apocalyptic prophecy those crazy cultists come up with! Cats and dogs living together! Fedos smelling nice and hairless furries! Miss Kim in a feminine wedding gown, married to an handsome Gallente! The Jove living among us! The Drifters making a peace treaty and Empress Jamyl rising from the dead as a holy envoy of god who is also Minmatar!

IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?!

Everyone, I beg you. Don't join the Horde please, if you value your sense of individuality! Create your own groups, make friends with the smaller bands and the good people in all walks of life here in the Summit! Stay in your current corporation, if that is working out for you! But don't join the Horde!

That's all I really wanted to say.

Grr Horde!

What's so bad about horde? Their members don't seem to be lacking their individualism even if they're in this "faceless organization" as you call it. Every interaction I've had with their members (aside from the few times where guns were involved) they've seemed like good people for the most part. If I didn't have my own thing going on I would totally be looking at them...

Good people of New Eden! (All 3 of you) And others!

I just want you to know that we at Pandemic Horde are exactly this! It's all true.

We have no face, we are only a group of inclusive idiots that welp ships daily. If you think a mix between the antics of Brave Newbies, the Loyalty of Pandemic Legion, and the inclusiveness of me, are not worth it, than please JOIN KARMA FLEET.

All joking aside we love everybody and we have people teaching new capsuleers every day as well as training FCS. Come join for a week and see what it's like.

P.S. We also bring you TL;DR!

My Dear Ms. Ruil,

I'm so sorry to hear your displeasure in our organization.

In short, nature abhors a vacuum. Goonswarm and their ilk were plagued by rot from within and a failure of vision and leadership. Their fall was inevitable. Some organization was bound to end up filling the void. Pandemic Horde is that organization.

Upon my return last year, I was shocked to see a mercenary organization working within the 24th IC. The group seemed to be made up of everything from Angels to Guristas and even some Sansha. They were individuals, banded together to pursue certain common goals. They had no love or respect for the Empire, but they filled the void that had been created by the continued failures of the 24th and other "loyalist" organizations.

Pandemic Horde is much the same, but on a larger scale. There is no sacrifice of passion or individuality. I've found it to be quite the opposite. It is not a nameless blob of bees, it it a horde of individuals. In character and tactics, it reminds me of the stories of Old Khanid and how they would swarm across the plains of Athra to topple the golden towers of the Amarr.

My reasons for accepting a position here are my own. So too, all the members of the Horde. Be we Angel or Guristas, Amarr or Gallente, Matari or Caldari, we work together to further a common goal.

In conversation last night I was reminded of old discussions and people. Of The Cosmopolite and Verone and Star Fraction. I recalled walls of text outlining a desire for a specific type of civilization. I remembered my aversion to this ideal. Now, many years later, having seen the continued failure of Amarr and Khanid and CONCORD, I find myself in the same collective that they once envisioned. And I understood. And I looked through our membership list and was shocked and almost pleased to see that Jade Constantine was among us.

Don't fear what you don't understand. In the end, that fear will destroy you.

Instead....Join HORDE

Come now Utari,

You of all people should be familiar with a life's path that leads one from everything that they hold dear, to a system that seems to be in direct opposition to their upbringing.

Have Faith, brother. This is all God's Will.

Then again, I'm pretty far from being at any level to be worth talking to her, but still would be such an honor...

Why do they broadcast "FOR THE HORDE!!" ? It's rather odd when they do that.

I have friends in PH. They appear to have a good time and good leadership.

The difference between the Horde and the Imperium is six months. Mark my words, once the common enemy is beaten back and the MBC dissolves into a group of independent states this whole cycle is going to start all over again. It happened to Band of Brothers, it's happening to the Imperium, and it will happen to the Horde. There's always going to be someone on top in the North, someone capable of asserting their control of the region at the expense of their former allies.

Something about the North causes a sickness among those that live there. It's like it actively wills to find a new group be its champion and drive the place to chaos.

I think you highly overestimate our capability, or will, to oppress the entire north.

But thanks for the compliment!

There must always be, a Band of Brothers!

No seriously, I'd rather biomass (again, third time's the charm) and join Miss Kim in the State Protectorate than join the Horde! Disgusting! This is worse than a zombie apocalypse, only instead of zombies, we got whatever this is.

Ok... I'm going to do a rare thing and be serious for once.

This statement in particular needs clarification and evidence, as it seems to be the central grievance. What specifically has changed about people after joining Horde? I haven't seen anything, and if anything, for me, joining Horde has revitalized things for me as a capsuleer, and I'm more productive, creative and myself than before. I feel like I've got a spot somewhere now.

I think you and I may be seeing the same stimuli and interpreting it very differently. What is seen is Pandemic Summit. We see the diversity of corp names in Summit decrease. We see Hordelings talking about Horde all the time, as if it has overtaken their interests.

What you don't see, but I do, as a member of Horde, is that amongst one another these people are very much still the same people from when I knew them before the Horde. Mokk is still quiet and generally seems dangerous, Johlie is still one of the guys. We've got people from all over New Eden bringing something unique to Horde, including even Jade Constantine. Horde is laissez-faire. There is no empire, no dominating culture that all must give up their individuality to assimilate to. It's just over 9,000 capsuleers trying to build something, and get plenty of fights in the process.

I think you are reacting to change with complete fear, and I'm not sure that's rational. To put it in perspective, you likened us to the Sansha, who kidnap millions of people and wire them with cybernetics to turn them into slaves. Horde is just a bunch of new pilots and older pilots helping the new pilots learn the ropes. It's also a group of idealistic and ambitious pilots from all experience levels who want to build something unique in Fade, but I've never gotten that sort of vibe that Sansha gives off, wherein the dream is so potent that no system of ethics gets in the way. There's no "cult" here, if you know what I mean. It's hard to, when your leader looks like a middle aged cubicle monkey.

If Horde turns into a homogeneous blob, I'm out. If Horde turns into a dystopian nightmare, I'm out. If Horde somehow manages to do something even BoB couldn't do, and unify New Eden as you seem to fear (which is a laughable proposition considering how lightly we take ourselves), I'm out as well, as I don't want a unified New Eden, and neither does Horde's leadership. We even imported our old rivals into Fade specifically to keep a blue donut from forming.

If there's one thing I will always hold on to with a death grip, it is my individualism. No organization will ever take my identity from me.

Only the liberty of the individual assures the prosperity of the whole. And this foundation must be defended.

At any cost

Here's the thing though.. we're not as good as we seem. If anyone is going to assert their will on the north at the expense of their allies, it would be Pandemic Legion, Northern Coalition, maybe GoG, maybe TEST. But at least for a while, I don't think anyone is capable of doing that, or has the desire to, after seeing what just happened to the Imperium.

Horde can put out numbers, erect massive citadels everywhere, and train thousands of capsuleers, but it can't field titans, not without the assistance of others.

Up until recently, Serpentis were in the same boat. Now look at them.

You guys just need time. Maybe in 6 months you go boom. Maybe in 6 months, you get just the right backing.

I don't get all the romance and happy warm feels for Horde, but MBC sure did shake things up.

We fight in this war
Of the Blue and Red
Mother against son
No one together as one

North beats down on the East
While South strikes swiftly
At an unknowing West
All to paint their color

The Reds spread golden wings
The Blues wave colored flags
Not seeing the people doomed
To waste their lives away

Was this the plan all along
To break lives like waves upon
The thick purple walls of hate
Or is there something else amiss

Even while the monster rears
It's dual faced head
It grows ten more
A technicolored monstrosity

What is this beast around us
And what could it possibly want
It devours the souls of the unwary
Convincing others it fights itself

This beast must have a name
Or at least a mark
To show us why it takes
Away the lives of those undeserving

This is the face of War.

Pandemic Horde is a refuge from the harshness of war. It is where you can go when there is nothing left but the will to fight. Or if you have no will to fight at all. We are there for you around the clock. Want to trade? We can do that. Fight? Yep. How about mining? We have entire fleets that can support you. Even industrialists and Explorers have there place in PH. We even have a wormhole outfit.

So don't let propaganda or our numbers scare you away. Join today attachment free and check out your new friends.

We even take capsuleers from Galente Space. (For some reason)

Your poem didn't rhyme,
and I say this because
empty quoting with a pause
doesn't make the words chime

It takes metrics, aesthetics
rhythm, assonance, alliterations
it takes more than incantations
with little to no regard for acoustics!

Random strings of thought
does not a poem make
so please for Bob's sake
spare us all within earshot

Is this what the Horde teaches you?
This bad poetry without feel,
void of beauty and appeal.
Do you use it to torture your crew?

The Horde is bad, it is known
Brainless, nameless faceless
Presenting themselves as a nation
hapless fools that can't be atoned

Anyways, best I end this quick
and cease this humiliation
while I wait for a standing ovation

Poetry without rhyme.
Is like a watch without time.

It might seem simple to you.
But, it's understood by very few.

It takes a simple mind.
To rhyme with others in kind.

But if you insist on eating the rind.
I suppose i'll let you be blind.

This war of which I speak.
Is a conflict both long as it is bleak.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
But the lie is growing ever older.

Ask not thee of the mournful ringing.
And bite thy tongue from sorrow singing.

The bells they toll through night and day.
Announcing what shall come to pass this way.

Rest and sit here at my table.
For on the morrow you go if able.

You go to take a journey long and hard.
Remember you well to keep your guard.

The path is long and often narrow.
Hidden from your sight, a game of faro.

Upon your past and thoughts you must rely.
Or else from off the ledge you shall fly.

Now I leave you here to recuperate.
On the morrow you meet your fate.

Remember the words that Donne wrote down.
Or else the lost shall not be found.

"Ask not for whom the bells toll"
They toll for thee and for your soul.

Silent spaces creeping
Up on silent people talking
Without voices hearing nothing
But the spaces in between
All the nothingness around us.

Breathing without thinking.

Lacking vision without seeing.

Touching faces with no meaning.

Tasting noises hearing feelings,
While the echoes of our speaking
Loose the waves of silent bonding.

And the ones do keep on crying,
On and on without a tearing
Not a single one is dropping.

So we lost the only question.

Because thinking without asking.

And we never even knew it.

That our minds are fast and fleeting,
Flitting in and out of spaces.

Tiny little tiny places.

Without walls or windows pressing.

Down on skin and wetness questing.

For the questions we were asking.

As we lost the clear and lonely?

So we sit in houses only,
Leaving talking to the boxes.

Without feelings or emotions.

Silent spaces singing,
With the voice of deaf ones hearing
Loosing sound and lost our hearing
Once again now all is silent.

As we know now what is passing.

Some call me insane. If the universe is sane, then I embrace that label.
