After buying from CCP, I get an email from my credit card company

As requested, we are notifying you that an international transaction has been charged to your xxx VISA account. On MAY 14, 2016, at EVE ONLINE a purchase of $xxx was charged.

It put my credit card on hold until I confirmed. I am sure my previous card would have just disallowed it. If am in the US, with a US IP and billing address, is there any way to buy from CCP with a domestic billing?

I called the number on the back of my card and told them to allow the transaction.

Also you might want to tell them to always allow charges from CCP so that you don't have to call back next month.

CCP processes through a company called global payments. While they do have a US presence, the company is primarily an international bankcard company. The gateway sales are being processed out of their UK centers if I am not mistaken.

Once you speak to the fraud department of your credit card company, they will likely not flag those transactions any longer. Unless your shopping behavior changes. If you are billed monthly or buy the odd plex here and there then all of a sudden there is a huge charge.

Take my advice, I've worked in bank card for over 20 years now, never blindly "always" allow sales from any company. This greatly impacts your dispute rights, if someone does compromise your card and make sales at that company. CCP might be a low risk compared to say a company like Amazon but there is still risk.

You should be able to buy through steam in the US. Though people do seem to have more issues with through steam than just directly through CCP. You could also buy GTCs through a trusted source thats based out of america( their is a list of trusted resellers of GTCs somewhere). This is a more expensive option though.

Honestly i would just allow the transactions and pay any small fee charged. Ive been giving CCP my money for nearly 10 years and ive never had an issue with them. They are actually very good in the customer service department, so its no surprise i havent had any issues with payments or unauthorized transactions or such.

Get a credit card company that doesn't suck. I've never had any problems paying for Eve. If they lock your account just because you made an international purchase that's a problem in this age of online shopping.

That happens all the time, regardless of what you're spending money on. If you spend 95% of your money in one city/town/country, then travel, you get a notification from most credit card companies, as it's a decent sign of a stolen credit card number.

I get those when traveling all the time, when I forget to notify the CC company beforehand. Just call them and say its a valid charge.

As above:

- Contact your credit card and tell them that EVE ONLINE should be added to the approved sites, so your credit card will allow the payments. This is probably the simplest way to solve the issue.

- Set up a paypal account and associate your credit card with it. Then pay the EVE subscription with paypal. This works ok for the subscription, but if you want to buy PLEX or Aurum or character transfer or other account services, they may not accept paypal for these. I'm not really sure.

- Create a Steam account and pay through Steam. You may have to transfer your character if it's an old character that has a lot of skillpoints. Also, Steam may not allow you to have more than 1 account; some people like to play EVE with 2-3 accounts.

You can also buy plex from US based resellers.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Never ever.....never use paypal....for anything

Unless you like having the account associated with it locked up for months.
