EVE New Citizens Q&A

So, I've been looking into joining a corporation as it does seem the most enjoyable way to play eve, however there seems to be a mandatory requirement in most of the corporations I'd be looking to join: (small scale pvp and nullsec) voice comms. The problem with this is that I'm only sixteen.
I can understand why everyone uses voice comms as it would definitely make time sensitive communication (fleet coordination) far easer however I'm not sure that would me advisable for someone of my age group.
So what I'm wondering is:

What the odds would be of me finding a corporation that doesn't require voice comms and how practical it would actually be to coordinate using text chat.

If I were to join a corporation and use voice comms, what is the general opinion among the community of people my age in eve?
