I am also not sure of the relevance of needing a vote to move money from one wallet to another. I am also not sure why this is on the forums and not in an ingame email.

Morgan is right, I will use in-game mail going forward.

Under the current rules, the Jackpot only has 19 mil, so if somebody wins the jackpot, they win 1.5 bn, 1.481 bn of which would come from the emergency funds wallet.

This one time transfer would put our jackpot at 1.519 bn, and it would increase by 0.5 mil with every ticket sold.

Without this action, potential players will be told this is a progressive lottery, but it won't actually have a progressive jackpot until we have sold 3,000 tickets.

The reason I am taking this to a vote is because we are essentially GIVING the jackpot the first 1.5 bn, so now every ticket sold raises the amount that can be won in the jackpot. We are taking this money out of a safety net, and putting it out there to be given away. I'm not willing to give away 10% of our cushion without a vote from the people that built it.

Btw the general reason that votes are announced on forums, is that it allows the public to criticise them, thus helping the shareholders in their decision.

What is best protocol in Eve? Should I be starting a new thread for these votes, or just keep a single thread going for all things corp related?

When was the last time you saw a successful forum lottery? Everyone moved on to Somer Blink and similar sites.

I'm still here... I've just been spending a lot more time on the website and back end design. Sales quite frankly have sucked and I need to get a better handle on how to do this, I've also secured a co-host for the live stream program who will have a lot of friends to help expose the brand to.

Can I just stand in the same station as you so hopefully your riches rub off onto me?

And was wondering how this was going, been very quiet.

SORRY SORRY SORRY EVERYONE!

I could have swore I posted an update in early August, but apparently it's not here! Oops

I don't want to hold on to everyone's money while I'm making no progress, and while I'm not giving up yet, I'm not making ANY progress either.

Being a first time parent has taken far more time than I had expected it to, and I've had a handful of medical emergencies of my own to deal with... Needless to say, my time-in-game has suffered significantly.

I still have all of the money that was collected in the IPO phase, and have been saving to give out some kind of thank-you for everyone who was so nice to give me a shot.

While I'm not giving up or done with this idea, I need to release what I'm holding, as it clearly hasn't been as strong of an investment as I thought it would have been... I expected better sales, better YouTube viewership, and less administrative work than reality allowed. I now know, I have bit off more than I can chew.

So, I'm not done... But I am done for now... If any of you are interested in playing along on my next effort (whenever that may be), I will be back on the forums again...

As a thank you for trusting me to hold on to your ISK for so long, I have been taxing all of my in-game earnings at 95% and will be paying out all of the funds in the corporation on October 1 in proportion to shares held (excluding my own shares of course.

If you really want your money now, I am willing to buy back your shares at the price you paid for them. Please contact me in-game to arrange the transaction. Otherwise I will be contacting each of you individually on 10/1.

Sorry for the lack of communication and weak returns. This experience was eye-opening for me, and hopefully was a good indicator of my honesty moving forward. Life just got away from me and I didn't have the time I thought I would have had.

Sorry to see this go, especially I only found out about it today and never got to play :(

As for my own impression after reading all the posts here, I have following things to say

1. I love the idea of lottery, which is different from slots or raffles that are offered else where

2. But your website was all business and no fun . :p Players like me want to see player orientated website that purely focus on the game, you can have board discussions and algorithm stuff else where. When I play to gamble, I don't want any clutters. Just very easy way to buy tickets and check for results

3. Buying tickets through ISK sending in game with manual typing on the reasons was a bad idea. You want people to deposit money in game, and use the ISK from your site's account to buy tickets, offering both manual number pick and auto pick

4. The seed money/prize was too little. I like the idea of progressive jackpot but IMHO the starting jackpot should be minimum 20b. When you have better than 1:30,000 odds to win 20b in Rat Race at IWI with 27m for a spin, buying 27 tickets at your site for the same 27m ISK and Jackpot being 1.5b ISK is just really meh

5. I really do like the idea of progressive lottery jackpot for EVE players, and applaud your effort. If anybody takes up from this idea with revamp for super easy and sleek website interface and willing to commit as a group to push for its success and marketing, I could probably 'pledge 20b'. But I'm talking about scenario where progressive jackpot not won for a few weeks can carry over to at least 500b+, region, and two months no lottery winner bringing the winnings to over a trillion kinda scale. Something big that will get people excited. While it's a different game, I remember when Rat Race at IWI went over 900b. Everyone and their dogs were spinning like crazy and there was such a buzz

Anyways, kudos for your effort, and I hope your next ventures be more successful

Cheers Love! The cavalry's here!

Thanks for that Toobo. I was planning for a website interface such as what you described, but my programming skills aren't what they used to be. I had a friend helping, but he fell through back in July.

As for Jackpot sizes, that is the trickiest part of the math for the whole project... Make it too small and nobody cares... make it too big, and you put the lotto corp at a huge risk of losses. My initial starting point of 1.5bn was selected based on the cost of Plex at the time, and would be 1500x the ticket price... It also didn't help that through the API I was keeping public, the names of players for all tickets purchased and paid out... Sure, I was buying 20-50 tickets myself to give out as promos, but it just doesn't look good to see 85% of the "sales" being made to the CEO.

Again, I love the project and want to give it another crack, but really feel bad for holding so much of everyone else's money for so long with no return.

I will try again when I know I can give it the time and effort everyone deserves.

Trogdor, yeah your reasons are understandable and it is correct that you don't put too much of your investors' money at risk. But if you had a really attractive site and solid plan, and some collateral for investor safety, I think the lottery idea could work. There are many examples here on this forum where people raise 20+b very quickly if they can offer good collateral and well trusted third party. Anyways, good luck!
