I re-subbed about a week ago but have not had chance to play much. I find the new interface and graphics quite pleasing and stuff seems to have been polished up nice.
One main reason I left last time was being fed up of endless war-dec's, has CCP any idea how *******g boring that gets?
Like you, I have still to discover if it's worth coming back for more than a quick visit.

Is shiptoasting a requirement to get into Doomheim? Seems like every Doomheim forum goer has shiptoasting V

as far as I know nothing has changed in this regard and I doubt it will. The main intent of the Devs is to push players out into the more dangerous areas of space where content is more likely to happen.

I am a carebear and have found that the best way to PvE in this game and be relatively removed from the PvP aspects is to go to null sec. It may sound counter-intuitive to you but I've found it to be true. There is a bit of a learning curve but once you learn how to operate in null it can be done.

So if you plan on staying in high sec corps that just mission and mine then expect to be permanently war deced. One hint is that recruiting will get you war decs especially if your corp is a carebear corp. This game is a PvP sandbox MMO, by design it will try and push you more into PvP related activities where the "content" is created. If you plan on coming back and doing the same stuff that you did last time, meaning staying in high sec and trying to avoid PvP then expect the game to be boring and you will likely leave again.

Either give PvP a try or give null sec / wormhole space a try or don't waste your time coming back because high sec missioning and mining will rapidly lead to boredom and quiting.

All of this is true. There really is no reason to be in high sec unless your a newb, running missions, or shopping. And with skill injectors you can quickly become skilled enough to fly in 0.0. Running missions is pointless IMO. That leaves shopping.

You get in a good sov holding alliance and reap the benefits of 0.0.

- Wardecs do not matter nor affect your gameplay.
- better ore, rats, sites, income.
- No guessing on if someone is going to mess with you. Either friend or threat( if you get in a NBSI alliance which is the only alliance you should ever be in)
- Intel channel will warn you of coming threats. The only real exception to this, assuming you have a good intel channel, is if they pop through a wormhole into your system( which is almost always just scanners).
- People to defend you. While you may hide in the dock. PVPer will undock and hunt the offending person just because they want a kill.
-It is standard for corps and alliances to have buyback programs on ores and ices. Though you can sell it locally to indy people or build ships ,etc and sell to alliance mates.

This game is designed to encourage you to get out of high sec. Many never do though. Its not near as scary, hard, or dangerous as one may think. I went from about 60% of my time in null when i was younger to 99% of my time in null now. My main hasnt been in highsec in months and only then cause i was cleaning out some of my stuff.
