Mobile Tractor Unit - Reinforced Mode

As the title indicates this would create a reinforced mode for Mobile Tractor Units.

This is a mode that you could put your MTU in, that signficantly increases its hit points and defense capabilities. However, while in this mode it is incapable of tractoring and scooping items.

Good for when you want to temporarily leave it out in the field and not come back to find it 'sploded in under a minute after you've left.

Flame on. Lol

the trade off for letting it do an automated task is the risk of losing it

But it can't do anything automated while it's in reinforced mode. Except sit there looking pretty.

It could still be destroyed but it would take a lot more fire power and/or time to do so.

Sometimes you need the extra 100m3 it takes up.

Mobile depot has a reinforce timer in which it indestructible.

Why not give both reinforcement, but make it a weaker reinforcement: have it gain resistance and self-rep instead of being invulnerable. That way a passing ship won't be able to just pop it in their spare time, but if someone is dedicated to making it disappear, they can do it during the reinforcement.

Why do mobile depots get special treatment?

These damn things are already too hard to kill, takes quite some time for anyone in a ship that doesn't have a ton of dps.

No way in hell.

Not to mention these devils are so cheap.

they aren't that hard to kill, perhaps you shouldn't try killing them in your rookie ship.

im for a reinforce mode, if not than lets take the reinforce timers away from mobile depots, they are left everywhere as billboards because of it

If tractors were indestructible then ratters could just sit on one. If pirates come and blow you up. You can just come collect your modules later on from the indestructible tractor that looted you.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

Now we get to the core of the request, so let me paraphrase this.
I have so much loot that my MTU will no longer fit in my cargo hold, but I do not want to warp away and leave it to the fates and whatever may happen to it while I am gone.

My response is choices, you either leave some of the loot behind so you can take the MTU or you take the loot and leave the MTU. Either way it is the very core of the choices and consequences aspect of EvE at work and it is intended to be that way.
There are options you know, like a ship that has enough cargo space to hold it all, there are secure containers that could be anchored in space to store the loot that will not fit in your cargo hold because MTU, and god forbid in a game of alts you could always use a second character to fly a larger ship that can pick up the loot so all you have to worry about is your MTU.

Considering all of the options you have to use to solve this, options that are already in the game I give this idea a heartfelt

I'm not thinking an indestructible reinforce mode, but rather one that simply makes it far more difficult to destroy, so that it either takes considerably longer to destroy or a lot more firepower.

They were also very deliberatly excluded from concord protection,
they are suposed to be easy to pop , you are suposed to get angry and mess upthe little fecker that shot it and you can because hes suspect.

Shooting mtu's is a fantastic inroad to pvp for newbros, lets not take it away .
