Long warps

I've recently started using a Retriever and noticing that I often get told that it can't warp the whole distance to wherever. Left alone, it will warp as far as it can, wait to recharge the cap to some level, then warp again, rinse and repeat.

There seems to be additional danger of getting attacked in between these multiple warps. Can anyone advise me on the best way to address this (obviously I can increase the cap power or recharging rate at the expense of something else, but I wonder what options I have without doing this)? I tried stopping the ship in between each warp and waiting for it to recharge to a higher level, but the window of time is short for this, and it increases the "gap" between warps while reducing the number of warps.

I would suggest, if you are worried about being caught out with low capacitor, to jump to a celestial like a moon and leapfrog your way to your destination. This will conserve cap and keep you relatively safe.

Some call me insane. If the universe is sane, then I embrace that label.

train " Warp Drive Operation ".

fyi you are in less danger when you stop in between gates like this than when you are at a gate/belt/anything warpable as a potential attacker will need to either bookmark you down (time consuming) or probe you out (effort)
here is a thread from a couple o months ago on the topic of finding people in space you might find interesting.

Edit: spelling hard, me speak pretty one day.

Thanks, both.

Ralph, I particularly liked (from the other thread) your reference to a "minuet of probes ". I've been wondering where the strange music was coming from. Smile

Just as a good rule of thumb anytime you find something like this in game that seem inconvenient and you think that there has to be a way around it check in the market under skills and see if you see something.

I'll remember that. Thanks.
