Given the date of this meeting, I wonder if there is anywhere nearby we could let off some fireworks?

Things going boom seems entirely appropriate for an EVE meet.

I used to know an SF fan group who did this sort of thing, Armageddon Enterprises. They did the display for the 1987 Worldcon in Brighton. Not sure if they're still running though.

For people who don't know about this aspect of British culture reading this thread. November the 5th is also known as Guy Fawkes day. The evening usually has a lot of fireworks displays, both public and private.
