The Bleak Lands would be even more bleak if it were not for the mighty Annah Kitheran. Her courage, excellent fleet leadership and inspirational charisma have changed how I view things in New Eden. I now know I can be whatever I wish to be, I just have to believe!

Annah is #1.

+1 for Annah Kitheran.

Corp loyalty aside, she's a force of nature :)

Not that I pay attention, but I didn't see anything explicitly excluding him.

They apparently just didn't believe that Kazzzi has the same level of notoriety that you did, they also didn't offer much of an alternative so I wouldn't take their complaints seriously. Arbane was nominated to discredit the contest and subsequently struck down by, you know, the people holding the contest.

I think Kazzzi's fine and if you feel he qualifies in the spirit of the contest, then by all means, nominate him.

Edit: Never mind that, I'm dumb. That comment came from the person holding the contest, apparently, and if that's the decision they've made than that's up to them to decide.

As with the PIE awards, I will forgo the rules section, and nominate myself.

Why?

For publicly promoting the cause of Abolitionism within the Amarr Empire, with a quality of writing (although not typing) beyond the skill of most Intergal writers abillities.

That, and it's far easier to be against Slavery as a Matari Solider. Far less easy as an Amarrian Lord.

Beyond that, certain memebrs of a certain Matari Alliance may recall how many slaves I have personally gifted them in the cause of Abolition, Freedom and Liberty.

Sadly, most of those are planet bound these days and not around to say boo (not that they would admit to receipt of slaves from one such as me, no matter the rightiousness of teh cause), but such is life.

That's pretty bold, and I personally do appreciate any efforts to eliminate slavery, or at least in the interim make it more personally rewarding and comfortable experience without the aid of unnecessary psych drugs. In things like this, though, it's as much as the intent of the accolade as is who is recognized.

It would send a powerful message but set a terrible precedent. I also am unsure of how a faction battleship will help to further your cause.

As someone who's either known or flown with many of the nominees before, I can say with conviction the award should go to sasawong. With the greatest respect to the nominees, no Matari anywhere has done more for the cause.

Now is this Freedom Fighter of the year? Or Republican of the Year? Because I am def not the latter and I hope in this day and age people can see those two are not always the same. That said, as an alumni and honorary member of Minmatar Ship Construction Services and speaking on their behalf, they would be willing to sponsor the third place prize if it were reinstituted. Minmatar Ship Construction Services is a proud supplier of Minmatar capital ship hulls, bubblegum and duct tape with manufacturing facilities all across Heimatar.

What rules? they already made it clear that the rules are to be applied when they please and disregarded when they please as well. Setting a precedent of 'we will let who we want in because we are running the contest and to hell with what we wrote as the rules'.

As far as Ava Starfire, after meeting her on the field of battle more than once I would confidantly say she is among the best the Matar have. she will fight alone or with a gang and does not have the 'hide behind the school of fish' mentality most faction warfare pilots (of all races) have. Kudos to her.

P.S. @Aphoxema: Your such a pretty girl with loads of potential in your eyes and judging from your picture I just have one word of advise: leave the abusive bastard no relationship or person is worth it.

Question

Ushra'Khan and Electus Matari pilots are not officially affiliated to the Repbulic and therefore ineligible.

On the other hand, a newly-qualified pilot in the Republic Military School would be eligible.

Like I said before, he really didn't think this through.

Reasonable people change their minds when new evidence is presented.

My wife does very well by me despite having only just met again after a very long and painful forced separation. Most of the abuse I suffer is from myself, and I'm a bastard I can't seem to get away from.

Not that I can't appreciate the thought.

I would like to second the nomination for Annah Kitheran; not just out of corp loyalty but because I truly believe that her dedication to the cause is impressive and worthy of recognition. All of us who have fought in this war for a lengthy period of time know the balance of power in the warzone is fickle, and neither side maintains the upper hand for more than a few months at a time. Annah has lead from the front, run fleets, devised strategy, and maintained morale in the bad times as well as in the good ones, and the importance of that is not to be underestimated.

Secondly I would like to put in a nomination for David Devant, until recently CEO of CTRL-Q. Planetside duties have recently forced him to step down from that position and hand over his responsibilities to his (most capable) director team, but he has been a stalwart presence in the warzone and deserving of recognition.

Nominations:
1) Annah Kitheran for leading us not only to victory but to good times in the process.
2) Sasawong for being Sasawong. The mans dedication to the cause is unparalleled.

I would like to nominate Annah Kitheran also, not only for hours of successful fleet command but also for often single-handedly contributing more to the war effort than some (fairly large) corporations.

My second nomination is a difficult decision but I would like to nominate Bahamut420 for expert piloting.
