Hi guys,

I recently came back to the game and joined a corp that has space in null so i decided to try some ratting. I can easily do a rally point so then decided to try do a port. It was all going well until i got to the battleships. I just couldn't deal enough damage to kill them and was wondering if i could do anything to my fit to improve it or whether its more to do with my skills.

Here is my fit. It gets about 320 turret dps. If it helps i am fighting Sansha rats.

What do you all think?

two simple ways of doing it. run meta 4 guns and / or run faction ammo.

i threw your fit into eve-hq to try and figure out what kind of increase you could get from faction ammo/meta guns.

with Minmatar BS at 4 and large projectiles at 4 i was getting your current DPS numbers with EMP and your fit. with faction ammo alone dps jumped from 320dps to 360dps with your current fit. meta 4 guns (1200mm Heavy "Scout" Arty 1) with standard ammo was 375dps and 423dps with Republic Fleet EMP

Not sure where you're ratting, but getting in close with autocannons will get you more damage. Also if your range allows for it, swap a tracking enhancer for another Gyrostabilizer. No point going beyond the third one though.

Use T2 800's and I think you'll do a lot better.
I generally use T1 ammo for ratting, but T2 is pretty cheap sometimes. I don't rat with faction ammo, but I keep some in my cargo hold for *oh sh/t* moments.

I'm thinking you need more skilling. A Maelstrom with 320 DPS sounds horrible. You should be able to get 600+ with light drones in there.
