Facing full Eve Re-Install, but can't find the link and what I need to do to prepare

The game locks up my comp completely, not even CTRL-ALT-DEL works.
Only happens when I play Eve, though I don't play other graphics intensive games to benchmark against.

It is likely due to an aging video card, but I am in no position to replace it, so am gambling on the problem being a corruption issue in the client.

I need to get the client reinstalled anyway I believe because Sisi is also borked.

Looking for the link to the full install client re-install, and whatever notes I should read about this re-install.

I don't think it's your video adapters. I have two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580's (non SLI: four monitors) and it happens to be too. Will be playing and everything locks up, if I had music or a movie playing the sound freezes and plays a rather annoying tone until I power the box off and reboot it the painful way.

Just out of interest are you using nvidia ?

The last stable drivers if you check the nvidia forums are 275.33 for the majority of people with graphics cards over a year old. Newer cards seem to be ok on the latest drivers. The lockups are called TDR errors and can be a nightmare to troubleshoot. If your overclocking you may need to up your NB voltage (or southbridge) depending on your board and manufacturer. Apprently TDR errors can be common in multi GPU setups where additional strain is placed on the NB which in modern boards is responsible for controlling the pci express bus.

I had a similar issue on a new build and as i was overclocking had to up various voltages to get it stable. Im using an intel i7 build with three GTX470's and had to up the QPI/VTT, Memory voltage, etc. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE before tinkering with any voltages check the safety limits on all voltages for your board. Dont go frying something by setting an incorrect voltage.

Some more details might be able to help us troubleshoot the issue for you. Lockups or mostly the result of the following

Overheating (due to inproper ventilation or dust buildup)
Not enough voltage (could be down to wear and tear on the psu, old hardware with dying mosfets)
Driver issues (common ones are graphics drivers and sound drivers especially realtek and also check for network driver updates)
Hardware issues (im assuming youve never had hardware problems before but things like intel burn test, prmie95, linx are all good tests)

Good luck

Thanks Claire.

But it is an ATI card and I don't overclock my machine.

As for the hardware based issues, the only one I can do anything about is the overheating, but I clean the dust out on a regular basis. I do believe the card could be overheating, but it has a separate fan for the card (total 2 fans in machine), so not sure there is much else I can do from that end. I updated the drivers some time ago, and they are current.

What I am curious about is if there is a method to find the temperature the card is operating at.

And thank you for the installer link. That is something I dread doing, but don't know of many other options.
