Hello I am in a new wormhole corp and I was wondering if we know enough about medium citadels to know if they would be reliable for c2 wormholes. Another question i had is if they would allows us to build capitals such as dreads and carriers.

Care to define what you mean by reliable?
Yes using a Medium in a C2 will be fine. You can live out of it like you do in a pos i.e. store ships, mods etc, dock when you want to log and so on.

Production of caps, I don't think so. There will be Assembly Arrays at some point and as I understand it this is where you build stuff. Citadels are essentially office blocks & trade hubs, there will be other structures to do different tasks.

You will not be able to dock said capitals in a medium citadel, you need a large unless you plan to live in your cap ship, this will include rorqual's

capitals are only dockable in large and x-large.

you can just get a medium citadel and a small pos to base your caps out of though, honestly not sure if a small pos can online the capital building module but then just do that in a medium or large and then switch to a small pos for storing it.

pos won't be removed for quite some time so just do it like that until they do or just get a large citadel.

The medium citadels can hold all subcaps, orca, and all freighters (including jump freighters).

Capitals, you'd need the next step up.

Can you live in a medium in c1 through c4. Yes. Honestly unless you are using capitals or using the citadel as a market hub, you probably don't need a large.

Now if you are a large Corp, yea a large will help, but if it's you and 10 people, mediums more than sufficient.

sorry to spoil the loot pinata but...

OP until CCP balance citadels so its weapons actually do a reasonable amount of damage to subcapitals then I would strongly advise you to not deploy a citadel of any size.

Because any corp that can field 10 or so low sig, high dps subcaps will be able to destroy your medium citadel and you will cry in frustration as your citadel 'super weapons' do next to no damage to them..

If for some strange reason they build a dread or two before they come and siege you it will be a different story.. you can then enjoy the capital ship explosions. Yes the damage application balance is that bad...

according to some friends who are on tweet fleet slack : structure chan.. Nullabor said that they are looking to do another balance pass on citadels cause of the subcap damage application issue. Will see what happens.

If they are phased out according to the CCP timeline then the ship building array will do you no good after the Autumn update - you will need to have a Citadel to build ships

Not a Citadel, an assembly array. While Citadels will be able to use the manufacturing service module after their release, they will be unbonused for it. Anyone doing any serious manufacturing post-POS will want to be doing it in an assembly array

Something to think about.

To date, according to Z-Kill there have been a total of 36 Medium Citadels killed.

23 of them have been in W Space Shocked

All were likely died as a result of them coming out of their anchoring and into the 15 min vul timer.

To date citadels are credited with 4 kills.
2 shuttles
1 command destroyer
1 confessor

191 B destroyed to 180 M in kills.

Will be more interesting to see when the one that actually made it through their on lining period start popping.

There are quite a few mediums making it, I've seen a number of them recently in wh space... whether they will be effective in defense I am interested in seeing.

that data with citadel kills are wrong ...

you must look for weapon, not platform in order to see all kills.. (rockets)

Just out of curiousity, as I haven't been following citadels that closely, what are the current relevant details of citadels in WH space. I recall at least one devblog talking about maybe changing the timers in WH space (shorter reinforcement timers etc). I also saw conflicting information about items in a citadel, one stating in WH space items would be impounded until you put up a new citadel to get it back, another stating items would drop like a SMA.

But I couldn't find the current released information in release notes.

In WH's the loot will drop, same as it does for pos's now. So 50/50 chance of being destroyed/dropping. In k space, everything will be impounded and nothing will be destroyed.
