Fighting Pirate Frigs

I was wondering if people have any tactics to counter pirate frigs with T1 frigs or T1 dessies in a FW environment. Perhaps luring them into a false sense of security before surprising them.
In my own case I quite often catch Garmurs with souped up mwd fit Fed Navy Comets provided they don't have a defensive scram or dual prop, which is frequently the case. This example is the only one I feel comfortable pulling off and isn't particularly difficult. Sometimes I will gamble on engaging Dramiels and Daredevils in the hope of merely outlasting them in a dps race as they can be squishy if poorly fit. But when it comes to Succubuses , Worms, Cruors (and Asteros) I always depart in haste. If anyone has any ideas they are willing to share I would be interested to read them

I have had trouble with these ships and the only way i combat them is with special fits. I like to use a dual web comet for the astero, dramiels (dual web merlin works here too), and worms. They can get away since you have no scram or disruptor but since most frig fights dont last that long people dont notice all that much.

Im with you on the succubus. the ab bonus makes it really hard to catch and hold onto

Worms have most of their dps in drones and they have only two, so jamming them could work (drones are easy to jam, don't need to fly an ECM ship). Never tried it myself, though.

Also a heads up: in my experience, most (though not all) of the pepole flying the strongest pirate frigs use links, making them quite un-fun to try to 1v1 without links of your own.

This. Always assume some one in a pirate frig is linked, implanted, and using boosters.

IMO - a dual web hookbill is a suitable match for a succubus or dramiel.

I've seen blaster daredevil's beat 1v1 by neut tristans.

IMO worm is the only one nearly impossible to beat 1v1 while undershipping unless your opponent is dumb.
It's raw tank and good damage application at a variety of range is what make it excel

If you know a worm has a mwd, use your web to kill his drones while you orbit your scram on him. I have not found a fit that baits them better than something with a plate and AAR. If they are AB, use a kitey fit and let the drones chase you as you burn them down. If you have a web, throw it on the second drone while you work on the first. Worms are tough but if I get away with just killing their drones I count that as a win.

The hard part is not making it obvious. A Hookbill for a dramiel for example.

Navy frigates are technically T1, but usually when people say T1 they are referring to the cheap ol' generic frigates.

You could likely win against a pirate frigate if you were in a navy EWAR frigate. You could also gain an advantage in an assault ship that has a strong resistance to their weapons. Of course most pilots will just fly away because they know you can win...

Not really.

They'll just become another N+1 fight area. Where 'leet' pvp'ers just end up bringing different alts.

Boosts, either on or off grid, only really affect risk averse players. In a fleet it just becomes another small part of the compilation.

There are a very small minority of people that use then to dunk larger/better equipped fleets but it would probably be better if they were juts removed. Bringing them on grid will do pretty much bupkiss to combat in general.

The Cruor can be beaten by a good scram kiter - I've beaten them in beam Executioner, the thing is you can stay out of their neut and nos range (if they fit T1 or T2, faction gives too much range) and out dps them because they'll be fit for a point blank engagement generally. Stay in overheated scram range and they can be beaten. If their neut or nos isn't effectively draining you they won't have enough cap to keep running their armor repairer and they will die.

The Cruor is also, however, probably the worst pirate frigate there is right now.

The pirate frigates are very tough to beat if they are flown properly. Destroyers are too slow, other frigates are too slow and too weak, but they can be beaten pretty easily IF you know the weaknesses of each ship and what to look for. Destroyers are really slow, but if you can get yourself into a situation where you are in a destroyer fighting a pirate frigate, and you can apply good damage, the pirate frigate will die almost every time. The exception here is probably the Worm because it has so much tank and damage, where the other pirate frigates generally have good damage or tank, but their strength lies greatly in their speed or utility.

For example - the Daredevil has range control against pretty much anything because of its powerful web bonus, but if the Daredevil is MWD fit, then that gives you the option of range controlling the Daredevil if you use the right fit, for example, a dual web afterburner Kestrel can actually range control a Daredevil (if it's using an MWD), by like 20 m/s. It isn't much, but in this situation it would mean that the Kestrel could kite the blaster Daredevil near the edge of scram range and defeat it.

You're not supposed to link kills dude.
But as it was a Goon, I imagine they'll turn a blind eye.
