New to exploration - Fitting advice for DED sites

Hey everyone,

I've just returned to the game after about a 3yr break so I'm a bit rusty on fittings.

I'm wanting to try some content new to me and have decided on exploration. Currently I'm getting a feel for my new low-sec home running Data sites. Eventually I would like to try my hand at combat sites with a Loki I had prior to my break.

I've put together a fitting and looking for some feedback. I'll be running DED sites in low-sec, primarily Blood Raiders.

I would like to keep modules t2 if possible to keep my cost down.

I'm also not clear on a general number to have for tank/dps running up to 6/10s. My idea with this fit is to stay at range sniping with artys, sending drones after frigs that get to close to track. I went with the ancillary booster because I'm hoping I wont actually need to run it non-stop.

Thanks in advance for any advice on the fitting, glad to be back in EVE!

Edit: I'm also open to other ships! Currently I am almost exclusively trained into minmatar and projectile turrets but with the new skill extraction I'm open to changing to missiles if they're better.

I'm not quite seeing the damage you quoted but it's closeish. And the raw damage seems fine enough. My concern is range on that setup; I'm seeing 19+43. As a *general* rule of thumb one of the major criteria I use to assess 5-6/10 fits is range at 50-60km. At that range, my preferred Legion fit for BR pumps out 530-570 DPS; this Loki does 200-400 (the latter number at 50 including drones). That makes it workable, but not particularly great for keeping range.

So is that a problem? Maybe. It's going to hurt you more in 5/10s, where pulling range in the second room and then having enough range to murder the overseer in the third range (before you warp off flaming) is quite important in a fit like this. In 6/10s it's less of an issue, but if you know the BR 6/10 well you might realize that you're going to be either moving verrrry slowly to keep in range -- slowly enough that that ASB might not be adequate -- of waiting an awfully long time for BSs to come into your kill range.

Unfortunately, I don't really have any good advice to get around that with a Loki. I don't like them for this purpose. You can make a metric ton from relic sites in null in a pretty quick Loki, but combat fitting... I'm just not sold.

Now, there are still options. If you have large projectiles, a Tornado works better than you might expect.

You filled in the mods correctly. I may try out running sites in null eventually but for now I feel safer in low-sec.

Would you be willing to share your legion fit? I may end up re-allocating my skills for something more effective.

Also if I were to move my skills around, what ship would you recommend is the best for BR?

Obviously my fit isn't cheap, but it's under a billion. The heat sinks make a big difference. Fitting is damn tight either way. The additional repping power should be plenty to get you through, say, room 3 in the 5/10 or an error running the 6/10.

Have you tried a Munnin?

As far as I'm concerned its pretty much better in every way. The Loki does get 23 more DPS. (Edit - 44 More DPS, OP was using T1 ammo)

1. Better Optimal Range. (29+36 vs 17+33)
2. Better tracking (extra 7.5% per level)
3. Better lock Range.
4. Can fit a T2 cloak (More scan res and easier cloak/MWD)
5. Cheaper
6. No Cap Charges
7. Great Tank without Crystals)
