Hello!

I'm not great with fluff or pitches so I'll just start off by saying welcome to the PD poetry contest thread, hosted by the Neophron Discovery Co. EVE corporation. I was bored and we had a lot of money saved in the donation pool, so we decided to start a contest with in-game rewards to raise awareness and sustained interest in Project Discovery and what the project is really about. The idea was meant to be silly and casual, but still engaging. :)

The rules are simple. Write a poem about Project Discovery, the Human Protein Atlas or microbiology and post it here (in-game mail submissions are also accepted and considered too). After some time has passed, we will judge the entries, with the help of some of the fine folks at HPA, and pick out a handful of our favourites as winners! Format can be anything you want (I'm personally partial to Sonnets though all the entries will be looked at the same ;p).

The first place prize is a PLEX. In keeping up with the Sisters of EvE theme, second place gets a Nestor, third place gets a Stratios and three honourable mentions will get an Astero, as well as the winners' submissions linked in the blog.

If you're not interested in writing about your incessant love for cytoplasm or just want to help out, feel free to send myself or any officers in [NeoDC] a mail. Donations also help make little events like this possible! More information on all of this and more can be found at our website, linked in our corp info (which is sadly down for maintenance right now).

Last but not least, if you like playing or need any help in PD, join the Project Discovery chat channel, and join the NEOPH Project Discovery mailing list for updates on contests and events like these.

Thanks and best of luck. Have fun and fly safe. o7

Cytoplasm, a haiku by Tisiphone Dira

All cytoplasm
There is no other option
It's cytoplasm

/s

There once was a ganker named tisi

A stunningly beautiful missy

To gank a gross miner

There is nothing finer, cept when they get all pissy

Tubuli are red,
Nucleus is blue,
But its only the green
That matters to you

(or is it "what matters to you?" not sure, but thats only grammar.)

Amidst interstellar warfare
and my demi-god brethren of destruction,
I discovered tranquillity.

During the preparation of slaughter
and the meaningless waste of lives,
I contributed to the evolution of science.

While we capsuleers wage wars
to satisfy our violent needs,
I took the time to aid the mortal souls.

The Empires clash in endless bloodshed
abandoning their subjects lives for the glory of the noble,
but I analysed friend and foe alike.

For at the junctions of our choices
this path leads to progression.
So one day we may solve the ailments of our time
and we may know peace.

I am the last Scientist Poet

I See New Eden getting clicking the faboulous samples I make

Amarrians getting screwy-eyed on something of Dichroics shake

The filamental bridge, the nucleus from a fridge.

I pick my answers with great care, the meiotic the mitotic, I pick them in whatever phase if face.

THE CYTOPLASM THE NUCLEUPLASM, THE BRAIN SPASM

The single spots the multitudes

Podpilots you have been addicted to every test I got..

but if you really want to get rewarded

why dont you login and load Project Discovery Up..

The plasm you need, spammed by people with greed,
Cyto! cyto! is all they choose, but that will make them loose.
as we are now free of the census they created, we should fear all their hatred.

I think hatred is wrong here, but meh, its just for fun. =)

I find the swirling streams of colour,
The textures of debris against the void.
The pinprick stars, the smudging clouds,
A million bodies of celestial beauty.
A project to discover space and life
Where truth is filtered from chaos,
And joy thrums through the cells
Of all who would play life's greatest games.

I am an discoverer
I wonder about unknown
I hear sound of the void
I see abnormal things
I want to reveal them all
I am an discoverer

I prented I am an scientist
I feel no emotions
I touch fresh samples
I worry about the result
I cry if its not identifiable
I am an discoverer

I understand the purpose
I say its our future
I dream about perfect match
I try to do my best
I hope for Discovery
I am an discoverer

The cytoplasm images in mind,
Narrow'd eyes peering into the colors,
The blues? These greens? I think I'm colorblind!
My brain now fried, ears releasing odors

'Saving lives!' The Sisters say. Lies, all lies!
Testing mental acuity, methinks,
'A test subject! Who care's whether she dies!'
Short end of the stick, it seems. sigh this stinks...

Shake your head, clear your mind, steel your resolve,
Get back to work, these puzzles are your fate,
No time to whine, these things need to be solved,
All of this, just for some uni-boob plate...

Not quite a sonnet, but how about some Iambic Pentameter? (not a poet, pardon my poor structuring)

PD

I thought I knew you through and through,
Every every nook and cranny of your mind.
But what shrouded beauty is kept inside you?
The true achievement of mankind.

A project now we have to do,
There's a discovery for us to find.
And if to HPA you're true,
Suits to you won't be declined.

Optimism in the project grew,
When Yadaryon's mind with mine combined.
His message stuck to me like glue,
It's: "To share knowledge, is to be kind."

So, that message quickly of course I signed; My time to this I'd like to bind; I will continue to be kind,
To advance, mankind.

"Dances in Red, Blue, and Green"

Pulsating jade tendrils, reaching, pristine
Marbled azure, stretching thin emerald arms
Gorgeous crimson staining lapsing the green
Forest consumed quickly in ombre burn

Shining sapphire, crown jewel dwarfing its serfs;
Speckled splattered shattered scattered emeralds
Light blue lagoon, surrounded by green turf,
A plucked blue rose, flanked with crimson petals

Swinging unsure, creaking from a light gust
A bridge between veiny cliffs of sandstone.
Lovers reaching towards eachother thus:
Bright red shading their arms, their hands yellow

And here I sit, clicking without worry
Each slide telling its own little story

"I'm not wrong, YOU ARE!"

Last night I had such a spasm
When I discovered the obvious chasm
'Twixt the choice that they made
And the choice that was staid
They called reticulum ‘Cytoplasm’

Red with Black and White with Yellow.
Spinning chords of a mellow symphony.
Harmony that lacks a simple coalescence.
Slightly off the beaten path of tune.
Discordant strikes an inopportune ear.
Lack the color of mindless paintings.
Knowing only the truth of one's feelings.
Ignore the despondent calls of idiocy.
Embrace the pain of ignoring symmetry.

I have seen so little of this world.
Experienced a minuscule fractional piece.
I have gleaned more questions than answers.
Developed inconsequential ideas of thought.
Decayed the fabric of time an feeling.
And I seem to be cursed with a wyrd.
My small space in this world is fading.
While the touch of the corrupted expands.
All that is gold has never glittered.
That which is silver never gleams.
Platinum expanses dissipate and fade.
All that is lovely is a shimmering mirage.

And so I shall seek the answer.
That in the myriad colors hide.

We shall find the sought out questions.
We shall stop the end of time.

Some call me insane. If the universe is sane, then I embrace that label.

Hello again guys,

To everyone waiting (including HPA), I want to deeply apologize. I've been away for quite a while due to illness and I have to get surgery this Saturday to have teeth pulled. >_< It's been quite an uncomfortable experience so far to say the least. My spit constantly tastes of blood and my cheek is sometimes so swollen I can feel it grinding against my other teeth and it really, constantly hurts.

Anyways, I hope to have this on the ball to getting wrapped up as soon as I recover. Again, sorry to everyone who was waiting.

Fly safely o7,
