EVE New Citizens Q&A

Hi all,

After a few days of playing I came up with this fit for Cormorant I was given.

I'm currently going through SoE missions and planning on joining some NPC corp to run some more afterwards.

This ship costs about 3.7mil, I'd like to hear some advise about the fit and if I'm overdoing some things and if I could go with a cheaper fit or maybe diff modules.

Also, not sure what corp to join in terms of better ISK and LP->ISK profit, are there any commonly known paths or is it more of a personal choice?

its fine for most of the arc and L 1/2 's

you might need to ask in local for help twords the end of the arc but thats intended.

basically just keep moving and try to stay on the edge of your optimal and you are sorted

Only thing I will currently mention from the phone:

You can NOT join a NPC corp (with the exception of FW corps or your "fallback" default corp if you are not in a player corp, FW militia or school corp), if you mean mission running, just speak to their agents to run missions for that corp.

Small but kind of important difference, running missions for a corp or joining a corp as it relates to 2 totally different things in EVE

Do you want to continue doing missions? Do you want to run exploration sites? Do you want to PvP?

Understand that larger ships are not straight upgrades in EVE.

As ships become larger, they do indeed gain more raw firepower, more HP, and have a greater ability to fit modules. However, their mobility is lower, they lock targets slower, they take more damage due to their larger sensor "footprint," and applying damage against targets at very close range (sub-5km) becomes an issue.

In short, larger ships require a rethinking in strategy and module configuration as the tactics and fits that you are using with your Cormorant may not apply as well or at all.


That said... if you want to continue using Hybrid weapons and shield tanks, the Moa is the way to go.

I'll just chime in that you shouldn't expect the same kind of scalability as you go up. Sure a frigate can return its value within an hour or less. A cruiser doing just missions? depends on whether you loot or not, but I'd say that if you salvage and all maybe 5-10 hours to pay off the cruiser. BC It will probably take you a few days to pay off the BC. BS it might take a few weeks to pay it off.

Everything in EVE is diminishing returns, so You might find yourself paying 10 times more for a 10% improvement or or a 1000 times more for a 10% improvement.

You have to look at your goals to decide whether the benefits are worth the cost.
