[General Out-of-Character Discussion] In-Game Shiptoasting...

Hi,

As many of you know, shiptoasting is a part of our daily ingame lives.
As some of you know, it can, and usually does, escalate.
Most of the time it's just some silly and funny RP (which we all love to do), but in rare cases, it escalates further than it should.

We need to make this clear, for people that get butthurt too easily, that EVE is a game.
Any and all arguments used either ingame or in the forums should stay a form of Entertainment, not a form of bullying or harassment using personal informations.

Losing ships is a normal thing, so is talking trash to your WT.
But to go personal on someone (like telling him to get cancer or die irl or whatever) is just plain stupid, because you usually mean it (otherwise you'd have written "in game" somewhere)
If you're going to bring RL stuff into a VIDEOGAME, you don't belong in the game.
If you're going to bring RL stuff into a VIDEOGAME, you're asking for trouble.
If you're going to bring RL stuff into a VIDEOGAME, you deserved whatever the GMs/ISD/CCP did to you.

That being said, I'd love to read the best (ingame) arguments (aka salt) you received.

Tl;dr
EVE is a game, keep RL the hell out of it.
Post the best salt you've got!

ISD will most likely lock it. The Pirate Story thread was originally created for real tears.

Today people will call tears for the simplest of things.

In all honesty the best tears come from the station camping crews and usually goon gank squads imo. Probably because of the insanity of their arguments and the general rareness. Care bear related tears are stale.

That said normally people who go out roaming are often the most pleasant

I always regard the threats I receive as being in-game, whether that was the intention or not.

For example, if someone tells me that they're going to find out where I live and kill me in my sleep, I assume they mean they're going to find my home system and catch me AFK.

Things are better this way.

Many...I would say most....people do not.

Especially when they are explicitly meant as IRL threats.

I'm just really surprised at the amount of racial and sexual slurs I see in local. I always thought Eve pertained to a more intellectual crowd.

If you want to see tears, check out st0ner smurf's blog.

He was one of the first major highsec pod gankers.

The number of times he was told to get cancer and die IRL, or was given graphic descriptions of exactly how he should contract HIV were scary.
