I've never understood this advertising sexuality in a video game thing. And yet it happens all the time.

It seems like you are defining yourselves in a space ship video game which is pure escapism by your sexuality in real life.
I never see groups of players advertising in games for example that they are all politically conservative, or a certain religion, or their dietary needs, ride bicycles, juggle, like cucumbers, or their height in real life. "Only tall people may apply to join our group."

In Eve I understand if you want to associate as pirates, industrialists, traders, miners, faction warfare, null blocks, etc... as these are all related directly to the game mechanics. This makes sense to me.

If someone could explain why it's so important to group by sexual identity in a make believe video games I'd really appreciate the insight. It's obviously important to some people because I see it happening in so many different games. Is it a hookup thing? Are you hoping to get it on? Is it that difficult to hang out with people for who sexuality isn't a big deal?

People often get ridiculed or whatever in real life for their sexuality and most find refuge online in one way or another. I can understand the desire to socialize with others who are in the same 'predicament' as they are. Though I have to wonder what the added value of doing this inside a video game is, exactly. I mean, is the channel constantly going to talk about how oppressed the LGBT people feel? That's gonna be depressing quick. And if LGBT isn't actually discussed at all, what is the point of being together in a chat channel in the first place, it becoming a dating channel of some sort? Is that desireable?

When it comes to problems surrounding LGBT there are plenty of dedicated communities to be found online that will gladly discuss the topic in depth. But outside that, especially when done in a fashion such as this, it feels more like an elitist group than a social support group. People want to give themselves a label, prance around with that label being all proud and stuff, and then complain about being labeled when it turns against them. Consider that EVE, or any video game for that matter, may not be the place to express your pride in your own sexuality.

It sort of remind me of the joke
"How do you know if someone is a Mac User?"
or
"How do you know if someone is a vegan?"

Answer
"They tell you."

Is it like that?

I don't think it's a hookup thing. It's just about finding other people who share your interrests and problems. Eve is a very international game, and it's not that easy in some regions in the world to be "different". Especially if it comes to sexual identity.

But generaly i have the same opinion like you. Minoritys get "seperated" in RL much enough, why transport that into your hobby, too? I don't know the skincolor, sexuality or religion from most people i know and like ingame and it also doesn't interrest me. They are just nice people i have fun with shooting internet spaceships.

Just look at that opening post. LGBT. Separation? You have it.
I am awaiting the chat "only for black people" or "only for white people".
I think its a TRAP.

You're either trolling me or you perhaps take it a bit too serious :) At the end of the day, it's a chatchannel from an interest group in a Computergame. Not more, not less.

What about Heterosexuals?
Isn't there a place for heterosexuals in the grand scheme of things? Cry

Interest groups? This is a newspeak! I demand he make it available to all, and change "LGBT" to "Sexual fantasies" channel. No discrimination!

I have this rule. If you replace the word in a phrase from a minority to a majority, and then it sounds like a silly or bad idea, then it doesn't make sense to do.

For example straight pride parade instead of gay pride parade, or white history month instead of black history month.

Or in this case, heterosexual chat channel instead of LGBT chat channel. Well at least inside a video game.

I'm not knocking people different than me, but equality and common sense goes both ways. This isn't needed.

There are plenty of chat rooms for this that you could easily have open while mining or something. If it was a support group or something for people looking for people to talk to that are going through a rough time i could see it. But just to BS and share pictures?

I wonder if in internet spaces and forums specifically designed and created for non heterosexual people to discuss their sexuality they they congregate in little cliques to discuss video games......

In the grand scheme of things?

No. Not really.

Look at what these God damned heteros have accomplished so far. Massive overpopulation (Seven billion of them...yikes!), constant hetero fueled marketing by our corporate oligarchs causing runaway spending on personal hygiene products, and the destruction of any number of local bar rooms as drunken sailors decide to fight over the same girl.

No. Heteros had their chance... and failed. Time for a change.

Hmm, I have an ex army mate who is Transgender, went the whole way from male to female, she ain't Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual and she hates being grouped with them.

As for the op, any one heard of the dark web? apparently PS2 and Xbox etc play a big part in the distribution network of, erm, illegal pictures shall we say, and where else would be better to hide that than within a game?

It might not be that, but the whole picture swapping thing smacks of setting up a network. But then again it's out in the open, so it could all be innocent.

Either way EVE isn't the place for this, sorry.

And before anyone even thinks about the homophobia line, I have both male and female gay friends.

Solecist Project...." They refuse to play by the rules and laws of the game and use it as excuse ..." " They don't care about how you play as long as they get to play how they want."

Welcome to EVE.

Is there a channel for sharing pictures of attractive girls? If yes, point me there and I'll shut up. If not, there are plenty of other places to take such activities to and EVE is not one of them.
