You equated actions in a digital realm with those in the real world, if it was any other game you may well have had a point, because they are generally against the rules; but this is Eve where those actions are not considered to be immoral by the devs, and are indeed somewhat encouraged.

I Managed to play eve since 2004 without being a douche and still enjoy myself.

It IS possible NOT to be a jerk in this game.

Then again, there are nasty people in RL as well, so why shouldn't there be in EVE? I mean, it's not Hello Kitty Online. Lol

Wingspan’s Chance Ravine guy just came to my mind with this thread. He really seems to enjoy being a ****, I mean you can hear him in his videos he gets genuinely excited, ellaborate breathing, he can barely speak when he’s extorting and ransoming ppl. Lol. And then those condescending emails... God I hate that guy! I think if I ever meet him in RL i’d beat the **** out of him...

You guys have no idea how many times I type something utterly dickish in these forums, hover my mouse over the post button, and then delete it.

Some people are just so verbally punchable, but ehhhh, it's so rarely worth it.

Oh, and as always, undocking in this game constitutes consent to PVP. That has nothing to do with cheating in a relationship, or any of the other things people can do irl to hurt others.

I dont understand the hype. So, a guy with a God complex reads my thread and decides to wardeck an industrial corp and everyone rides his jock? Yeah, we will lose ships. He's not wardeccing a PVP corp like WINGSPAN or MARMITE, PIRAT or any of the other main PVP corps in the game. He's just some guy trying to build his kill mails on a few low level pilots to fuel his ego that apparently, so many here have no problem stroking.

I'm sorry, but that means nothing to me.

That's the point, the OP was insinuating that because we scam, rob, kill etc in a game where those things aren't against the rules we must be terrible people in real life where they are against the rules; judging by inappropriate rules isn't a great idea.

I don't actually care either way.

But I'll not war on someone's behalf for free. If they seek my skill (pvp) then they will compensate for my time. Just as I don't expect industry toons to hand me ships for free. :)

one thing I hate is having my words minced to serve another's purpose.

I didnt say people that PVP or wardec, or play eve are terrible people. I'm saying, the actions you take in EVE affects others on an emotional level. Those who are disgusting to others in game and get off on it for the shear grief it causes, to me, are terrible people.

I've accomplished what I have in the real world by being honest and having an integrity those who do business with me know they can rely on. Have I ganked a ship or two in EVE? Sure, I need practice. But I honestly feel bad, however, its happened to me so many times and yes, it is part of the game.

To say however, that just because its encouraged to lie, cheat, steal and scam in EVE that it's "ok" to me is wrong. It's ok to stone your wife in some countries. Is that morally ok? It's ok to beat a monkeys head while alive until it dies so you can eat its brains in some countries. Is that morally ok? There is a big difference between legal, illegal and moral/immoral.

The entire point of this thread was to try and encourage some people to be a little more "moral". Helpful, establish some feel good stories for a change in the midst of all the chaos.

If EVE is your escape from the world that enables and encourages you to do things that you know you cant do without recourse in the Real World and thats what does it for you? Fine. You're in the right place. Does that make you terrible? I don't know. That's for you to decide.
