Dual Graphics Cards (not crossfire)

i have a 3 monitor setup. i am running 2 separate clients at the same time, one is a single screen scout character, the other is my main running on a eyefinity dual screen setup. i am running both clients in fixed window mode.

my system has 2 cards that are a little long in the tooth (amd hd 6870's), and being's crossfire does not work in fixed window mode, would it make sense to run the 2 cards seperately? each client on a separate card?

has anyone tried this?
