As many capsuleers have stated before me, an option to turn on or off the Scope News videos in the captains quarters would help get rid of the rather annoying repetitiveness of hearing the same news stories over and over.

That being said, I do feel that the Scope announcements are an interesting bit of lore and add a good bit of atmosphere to the game. I feel that a simple on/off feature may reduce annoyance, but will cause most capsuleers to completely ignore the announcements. That results in a quite a lot of work in producing the videos goes to waste an a very small population who choose to leave the video feed on.

As a happy medium I would like to see a different implementation of the feature: A Scope Que

The way this feature would work is that by default, Scope announcements do not play in the captains quarters. Instead there would be a small notification in the corner of the CQ Video Screen that shows a counter of unwatched Scope announcements. When a player mouses over the video screen you would be able to bring up a list of current and past scope annnouncements and watch them by actively clicking on the title. Already viewed Scope videos would be greyed out to show that you have already seen them, but would allow you to watch them again if you chose to do so.

This would allow capsuleers to watch the videos when they are ready to engage with them instead of interrupting them when they are trying to get things done, as well as let people know when new videos are available.

Hopefully this would strike a good balance.
