That said, what Coordinator Lagann says is about right. It's entirely possible that the reason the Drifters haven't or can't communicate is because they're drones of some sort, in a way similar to Rogue Drones or Sansha True Slaves. If we follow that logic through, it's entirely possible that the Drifters are not in fact sapient or human as we understand it, but instead some form of defense failsafe.

Admittedly, if Elder Mentor Raish indicates a 'mutual understanding' can be reached, then presumably, human or not, it's possible to interact with the Vigilant Tyrannos.

I'm still exceedingly curious about this, even though I increasingly suspect it was more of an off-hand comment.

I apologize for feeding the resident IGS trolls. I should have realized anyone attacking the good work of ARC was deranged, not merely confused.

The thing that has made the outstanding scientific work of ARC even more meaningful is their consistent efforts to share their findings and conclusions with everyone in a non-partisan way.

Some partisans imagine political motivations behind every comment someone on another side posts, but truth be told sometimes you are just flat out wrong or people do not like you as an individual, it is not always partisan.

With the work ARC is doing I find myself gaining respect for people I thought would only like to target me with lasers, when in fact they are also standing up to what a lot of us consider a universal threat.

I also have voiced the thought that the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" sentiment, but it is not always true. Sometimes the enemy of your enemy is just dealing with them first and is in no way your friend. I think after centuries of conflict with each other we have become comfortable with the idea that the universe is static and nothing will change.

The Drifters have proven those thoughts to be incorrect, they are a new variable that has changed the equation.

Until such time as the Drifters can be proven to not be a threat to the safety of humanity in New Eden we will continue to support the humans who choose to learn about the threat and share their knowledge with all who wish to gain insight from it. If that means because I grieve the loss of human life aboard the Titan piloted by a political human enemy causes me to fail some partisan purity test so be it. My priority is to support the efforts that are focused on the greater good of all in a collaborative attempt that in the long run I suspect will also help with some of our ancient conflicts. It is hard to continue mindless blind bigotry after you have flown with someone and recognize that even your enemy is capable of human valor and sacrifice.

I believe working together can have the possible outcome of making the New Eden Cluster a better place for all of us as we work out our deeply held long standing differences. Humanity standing together is a better choice than humanity fractured and destroying itself. ARC demonstrates it is not just a hope possible in the distant future but a choice we capsuleers can make today.

That said, Directrix Aspenstar, an interesting announcement! I'm glad to hear that SFRIM is taking that step. I will admit I do wonder what this means for C-AIG, but that's a topic for another time and place.
