Steam: Eve Launcher Failure.

Hello,

Last night, I did a fresh install of windows 8.1 and since this install I've been unable to launch eve online's launcher properly through the steam client.

I'm able to go to the local files to load steams eve's launcher, however it is not pre-authenticated, steams user ID's and passwords are unknown to the user, as they are typically a series of numbers, and the password is anyone's guess.

Eve onlines launcher, or client exe does not "Pop" either under the task manager or in general, I am recieveing no error codes, at first I thought it may of been a permissions issue, where in the pc wasn't getting the permissions granted to launch the exe file, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

I've deleted the local files multiple times and reinstalled the 110mb lancher on multiple occasions through steam, all that happens is that it says Eve Online: Running and the launcher fails to populate.

If the launcher doesn't populate when you click run eve online through steam, it does not get authenticated and the player can't login.

I would need some assistance fixing this issue, please.

Creating a support ticket would be the best option, or asking in the Issues, Workarounds & Localization board - General Discussion is where you come to get trolled...

This probably won't fix your underlying issue, but have you tried creating a normal username for the account?

Thank you for your insight, I actually think I only have less than a handful of posts on the forums and don't typically come here unless I need help.

I will look into creating a normal account name, and see what I can do with that, Thank you.

I also wasn't sure where to post for help, but trolling is against the rules I'd assume and I'd just have to report anyone that wants to do that.

Appreciate it.

Wow. Steam launcher problems are so....US! I can't tell you the last time there was a Steam launcher problem!
Thanks so much for bringing this forward in our humble little forum! Gee...a STEAM launcher problem...
Imagine that!

Same here, launcher seems borked!

No information whatsoever displayed in the launcher, no news, no updates, no account info.

Currently getting around it using the exefile.exe method!

TO EVERYONE.

You can still log in by left clicking on 3 horizontal bars at top right of launcher.

Click on server list.

then click Play on Tranquility.

Log in via the client.

I accept ISK gratitude donations P

In addition to this, I don't know if more ppl will suffer this, but using that workaround might get all your ui settings reset. To avoid it, you could use this method previously:

1) Locate the folder where EVE resources are. It should be something like: C:\Users\(whateverusernameyouhave)\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\

2) Inside that folder there might be one more folders (depending on how many alts you have I think) with names like: c_eve_sharedcache_tq_tranquility. Inside those folders you should have 2 files per char, where your settings are stored:
core_char_xxxxxxxx.dat
core_user_xxxxxxxx.dat
Find the ones which have a date belonging to your last successful login and save them in another folder.

3) Use the workaround to log in and then exit EVE.

4) Locate and overwrite the newly created files core_char and core_user with the ones you saved. You should get all your ui settings back when you log in again using the workaround.

This is a bad text explanation of this, credit to that Youtube guy:

I hope this is helpful.
