I don't. Its working as designed. Without it there would be no way to catch a cloaky.

Container around a gate or in a drag bubble are valid tactics. The only issue you can try to petition if there are too many containers definitely causing a lag. I am talking about 40+ of them and not a few trying to decloak you. Therefore you are not that wrong because a container bubble needs round about 40+ to increase the chance. It's a 30% chance that a GM will come and check the grid.

Anything with low EHP and offline hardeners is not safe in low sec. After getting podded two times, I became paranoid and never warped to 0 on a gate. Especially on long gates, where you can't get a D-scan.

As a rule of thumb, you must not warp on a gate, unless you can read a D-scan. There might be cloakers, bubbles, log on trap. Worst you can get - land in a bubble, on a container. It will decloak you and block your movement.

I think container bubble is an exploit, but devs don't really tell us.

Yea all that.

I also avoid rancer as well. I know there are other dangerous systems, but rancer seems the #1 smartbombing capital of EVE.

Yeah... Rancer. Lessons learned dagnabbit! Funny though, I've zipped though there many times before without a problem. Must been lucky... or smarter. Don't think i checked recent pod kills closely enough before heading through this time.

Thanks for all the info. Definitely gotta adapt. Only been in space for about a year or something? Eh... stupid game.

There was a dev post up yesterday with data on how many podkills happen and other pvp stats. Rancer was number one place not to pod through. So crazy hearing it happen to someone after seeing the data for it. Also wondering why rancer is so popular to pod through for?

Seems like SB for being in low, but they could also use a passive targeter so you wont see the lock on your ship. In mining that is why if you see someone enter you warp out fast in case they use that and you dont get a warning.

The route through Rancer is a considerable shortcut from Metropolis to Jita - cuts off something like 15-20 jumps from Hek system. I fondly remember the first Navy Raven I ever bought - it lived for less than 20 minutes as I decided to take the shortcut home Roll.

Now I have bookmarks on every gate on that route that let me avoid warping to zero, and never ever go naked in my pod!

Name a shrub after me.  Something prickly and hard to eradicate.

The fastest path from anywhere in Minmatar space to Jita is through Rancer.

In truth though odds are any given trip through wont result in a smart bombing. I go through frenquently in a resistant ship but essentially never am smart bombed. Also you make it safer by nott going straight to the gate the bombers start pulsing as soon as you leave the entrance gate usually..

how so?

sit at gate and cram dscan
lone pod comes in hit smarties when he drops warp

if you have good situational awareness it's a non issue

and I once lost a hulk BPC to a smarty camp in rancer, popped my shuttle and podded me the second I landed

I shoulda known something was up with that shortcut a long time ago when I saw the pilots in system go from 4 to 23 in the time it took warp from one gate to another.

Never again! I knew I was taking a chance going home that way with a full hold of goodies. My own damn fault. Goodies go to hi sec asap and stay there.

you can also avoid the smartbombers by having a bookmark 200km+ (or any warpable distance to the gate) from a different angle to the gate that isn't in line with the gate(s) you come from. Since the Smartbombers need to be whatever their smartbombs activation range is away from the gate, coming in from a different direction means you'll land on the gate at 0m and outside their smartbomb range.

It happens. I once warped in my shuttle to a gate in lowsec, and landed in a pod in the middle of an explosion. I was still wtf-ing while warping to the nearest station to get a new ship. I doubt the other guy even knew what he blew up, it was that fast.
I was rather irritated. I'd grown attached to that shuttle, and then had to find a new route back to highsec.

2 ways of doing it:

Smartbomb (very unlikely, gate camp alone with smarbombs? lolboulz and mega lolz)

Scan res over 1K it's almost insta lock and "badaboum", paper thin arty canes can do this very well, but not only canes, other ships can do that has well, just look your loss mail.

Go to character sheet, combat, tab losses

They used to "do this well". But now that the Naga has hit the scene, the standard has been raised.

Now, an insta-locking MR sniper cane is a wasted fit.

Didn't know this. So your saying they can't sit on the gate at zero and smartbomb away?

Is it the same for both null and low-sec?
