"regular downtime"....ahh of course.........

Regular in so far as it was not a crash or emergency reboot. Not regular in so far as there was a severe lack of warning and messaging before hand. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this.

If you have lost ships/items because of this early downtime, please contact Customer Support and they will look into this.

As a special service to the AU timezone another regular downtime has just occured. There are no further regular downtimes scheduled for today, but the schedule may be adjusted at a moments notice.

The upside of it all is that a dude on reddit actually made me laugh...

The new database is so fast that downtime comes every 45 minutes now. Impressive.

Why all those complaints? Everything is fine compared to how New Eden was in 2007 before the Trinity upgrade.

Hold your horses, it can always be worse.

We have an early downtime on the Tranquility server on March 1, starting at 9:00 UTC.

This is a regular downtime and not an emergency reboot or similar. During the downtime we will run some cleanup jobs and then start TQ again.

The usual downtime, starting at 11:00 UTC, won't take place on March 1. The next downtime starting at 11:00 UTC can be expected on March 2.

Sorry but thats a lie, no timer for downtime no msg posted about an early downtime server lagged for 5 minutes before no longer being able to connect. our fleet lost ships because of this garbage. I unsubbed my accounts today when my time runs out I'll go play something else.

Good on CCP for giving the players more opportunities to get outside.

And to those of you who do, remember: other people have muscles that change their expressions and body language based on your actions or their perception of you. Keep that in mind. And good luck.

I have to wonder if people really have become more impatient. Random outages were far more common 10 years ago with only a few minutes of forewarning at best as well. Nowadays people scream bloody murder for a couple of days and hours of problems when the server has for the most part worked just swimmingly for countless hours on end.
And of course people did complain back then, too, of course they did. I just can't for the life of me remember seeing this much vitriol and negativeness back then. People were upset, but more understanding.

Had it been a real emergency:

"Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!"

"... it will create a tidal wave about three miles high, flash boil millions of gallons of sea water. It will hit the West Coast and wash up in Denver. Japan is gone, Australia is wiped out. Half of the Earth's population will be incinerated by the heat blast, the rest will freeze to death in a nuclear winter. Basically the worst parts of the Bible."

The only issue I see here is that CCP need to fix is the way they communicate with the player base .......

The game is fine and anyone who kicks off at IT going wrong needs to get a grip as any system with over 99.9% up time is at the top of its game really.

And we all knew weeks in advance that the long downtime was coming and with changes this big there was always going to be some minor issues ....

However I just repeat that most of the feedback could have been dealt with in a better way than is currently being done .... over 20 years in change management and the number one item at the top of any project plan must be COMMUNICATION .....

CCP have a wealth of communication tools available to them but they are fragmented and only used as a last resort ….. its almost like some one sits there after the decision to turn the servers off and says “ I suppose we should tell everyone then ?? “ but have no single way to deliver this message even though they have email addresses for us all, Active Forums, Twitter Accounts up the yin yang, Facebook etc etc etc

But having said all this I must go back to the point that EVE spends 99.9% of its planned games time being active.

Keep up with the updates CCP and well done even though it doesn't sound like it.
