I'm sure it's been suggested before but anyway... stop people who don't actually play FiS being a distraction for those that do

Not really meant as a solution, just a talking point. Find a way to make people play the game, because not enough are right now

Another pilot I know likes to actually sit there, in space, watching local, for hours on end. A lot of pilots assume he's asleep at the stick. I suppose that's why people get so pissed off when he pops his cloak and starts pounding them with torps in their supposedly hidden plexes.

He says it's like fishing. Grab a nice book and keep an eye on the tip. Grab the poll when there's a nibble. Sink the hook when there's a bite.

IMHO, it's a perfectly valid form of flying if that's what he's into.

Of course, those that want to be in the plexes or mine the systems he's sitting in tend to dislike him for it and they periodically try to get the whole universe to change just for them. Honestly? That's their problem.

Articulated quite well. +1

Nono, Andski, he made that point clear. It's AFK DOCKERS he has a problem with.

Lol that's easy...CCP can time out their connection and boot them...otherwise who cares?

Please quote the relevant physics text that states that. Lol

He's talking about a cloak where all photons go around whatever wants to be hidden,
which means that the thing that's hidden can not see what's going on outside,
because all the photons are moving around it.

That said, we don't know what'll come in the future.
Hopefully, he doesn't believe that current physics is the be-all-know-all-end-all.

Well, he's assuming that that is the only way a cloak can function. Even with current science, we can create a cloak that works to some extent.
Using optical fibers you can bend light around an object, effectivly making it disappear, the person inside the cloak taps the optical fibers for a view. Obviously it does not work well, nor do we have the computing power yet to update the display under quickly changing conditons, but it has already been shown to be feasible.
Fun facts....do not == reality. Cool

They shouldn't imo. I think the OP is silly and I don't think it's a good idea.Blink I am just suggesting that if the OP's idea is to just cut people off who are AFK then there are already mechanisms built in to do that. CCP can cut people off who show activity below a set network traffic threshold after a set period of time. ISP 101.Smile

If CCP isn't going to do that then this thread is a waste of time for all concerned.Bear

See that's fine, that's playing the game. More people should do that. I only mentioned cloaking because if docking was nerfed everyone would sit in space in cloakies still not playing the game

There is no solution of course. I was just mad at the end of a 6 hour roam accross 3 regions that resulted in zero engagements Straight

Can remember a time when you would jump into a station system with 6 in local, 2 would be in the belts, 2 would be camping a gate and a 5th guy would undock to see what you had. And if you were in say a ceptor, he'd redock and grab his ceptor too then lure you to a planet or gate for a duel. Fun times. Now it's invariably 6 afk dockers

Play the game more people! Or log off, use MSN to chat with your friends and save yourself $15/month

You beat me to it.

That was actually part of the INFOCOM game.

As far as cloaking goes, your assumptions are way off. I am playing FiS when I cloak for hours at a time waiting for a kill.

Yes it was...I still have my button and towel from that game.Big smile

You still have the Hitchhiker feelies?!?

Keep them. They're a piece of gaming history.

you missed on cloacked and in-active .. so it would not matter.
You cloack go to bed you would lose local of others and others would lose you, then you come move and you reappear.. Big smile

But it beats the "only" purpose of cloacked ships .. resource denial for renters .. Cool

Oh my god i'm seriously tired of idiots trying to dicktate (purposeful misspelling) how other players play a sand box game that THEY pay a subscription for, to play how they want!

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.

Two-way mirrors block physical sight. Being invisible (as opposed to being 'not visible') means that light cannot reach your retina. Ergo, to be totally invisible means that you're also totally blind.
