I have been running unrated complexes, mostly vigils and watches (3 and 4), in assault frigates, either an Enyo or an Ishkur. I kind of prefer the Ishkur because even though it is less tanky, the drones are AFK mode fighting, much less micro-management and I don't have to fly around so much. Also, when the Enyo gets jammed it can be really annoying and that is a non-issue for the Ishkur.

Anyway, I am looking at possible alternative ships with an eye to handling the 5s and 6s (outposts) and considering the tactical destroyers, but the advantage does not seem to be that great.

For example, the Hecate looks like it will do 25% to 30% more DPS and can snipe out to 100km which is a nice time saver.

On the downside it is a lot slower, it warps slower, and it has 0 drones whereas the Enyo has at least 1 small drone.

Another issue is that does not seem to be any tankier at all than the AFs. For example, the Enyo has 879 armor with resists (50 - 67.5 - 83.75 - 10 ) whereas the Hecate has 700 armor with ( 50 - 51 - 67 - 10 ). The extra medium slot does not seem that exciting.

In defensive mode it says it has a "33% bonus" to resists. Does that mean +33% absolute or as a fraction of the existing resists? So, for example, does that mean the thermal goes up to 84% or 68% in defensive mode?

Will I be able to do outposts smoothly in a Hecate or is it basically not much better than the AFs for this purpose?

I was hoping to avoid moving up to a cruiser because they are slow, but maybe that is unavoidable for outposts. One issue with the T3s like the Tengu is that they are expensive, they are low sec gank magnets and I will lose SP if it gets destroyed, so I am kind of looking for alternatives to that approach, but will resign myself to it, if it is the best way.

I find the Confessor and Svipul are the best 2 T3Ds for anomalies.
