Roadmaps! What would you like to see in the next 2 years?

So, Sugar Kyle just started an interesting thing when she asked at the readers of her blog which roadmap they would like to see for the next development of EVE (say, next 2 years). That was a informal question raised by CCP to the CSM, and it has become a larger thing since it's been put into a Blog Banter...

Sugar Kyle's question:

SCASS answer to BB #72

Maybe CCP will come forward with that question in a more official manner, but I am in a strange position (for me) since I can't figure a ideal roadmap for the near future of EVE... at least not one starting with the current situation and what is doable by CCP from here.

So I would like to know:

What is your (General Discussion's) Roadmap? What would you like CCP to do/develop in the next two years, starting from where the game lies now (new sovereignty, Citadels and new structures, new capitals, et cetera)?

Edit: added SCASS anwser to the blog banter.

I should say "Walking in stations and citadels" and get to the cover before crap hits the fan.

Integrate the upcoming Legion 2.0 much closer than DUST currently is, including the direction CCP Seagull mentioned a couple of years ago of a single character being able to move between games.

That's a kind of open the door of sorts.

As EVE is 13 years old in a few months, I think CCP could maybe consider adding some PvE

That is on the roadmap, kinda. Will depend on when CCP Affinity shares the plans so we know how clueless is CCP and have a chance to act.

So far my ability to think of roadmaps is obscured by grim feelings about Citadel.

Some stuff I'd like to see :

- PI overhaul (click fest)

- Mission randomization (so every mission doesn't looks the same)

- Research agents re design

Hmmm....I think I'd like to see a dev team employed by CCP with the ability to retain the information that has already been punted about for years. It is disheartening, and makes me regret every nice thing I've said, when I learn this dev team is "opening discussion" of what they need to be occupying themselves with over the next two years.

It'll take two years to pick up all the stitches they've dropped thus far.

I suppose I'll have to go to Reddit to find out. Good thing it's not Facebook. What's Zuckerberg got to do with all this?

I wish they wouldn't. They've been adding PVE since 2009 (incursions, wormhole pve etc). They just added Drifter Incursions...and no one does them. They Added Burners and most mission runners ignore them. Relatively few people do PI even though that was supposed to be a big thing. only about 1.5% of players will do an incursion on any given days etc etc.

Meanwhile millions of "dumb" pre-2006 npcs in missions and anomalies die every singe day in EVE. Bottom line, CCP isn't the greatest company for providing PVE content.

Most people who do non-exploration PVE are still running/farming pre-2006 Anoms and Missions (even brand new players gravitate to the older content rather than the new stuff) because that content actually provides everything a PVEr needs. This despite all the stuff CCP has added. It's because too many PVE focused players claim they want new things, but they really don't, and will complain if you take away the old things.

Adding PVE content is a waste of time when history shows you that those PVErs will be back to saving Damsels and/or hoping for their Forsaken Hubs to escalate to a DED complex in just a few weeks after they blow through the 'new improved pve content'.

A better thing for CCP to do would be to try to understand WHY we prefer the old content, and enhance that a bit.

Maybe add some more missions to the level 4 security pool, but focus on improving the existing PvE rather than adding more avenues that are never walked down.

Drifters and the Burner missions are effective PVE missions...But they also have an increased risk factor compared to the older PvE content. Burners limit the ship-type, and give you a pirate whose stats are comparable to PvP player ships, which makes it much more difficult to take out than any individual pirate ship.

Drifters, I would imagine, are a far more dangerous breed than their Sansha counterparts, especially with those Battleship Doomsdays I have heard about. As a result, the level of risk and potential Isk/hr compared to Sansha's Incursions would draw less people towards Drifter incursions. Moreover, as memory serves, Drifters do not have the end-game HQ sites in Incursions, which generally afford very valuable loot (and end the Incursion).

It all comes down to profit vs. risk. The new stuff can take people out of their comfort zones, and the extra levels of danger makes it harder for such missions to be "farmed".

I've only run one Incursion in this character's life-time, and the efficiency of the fleet I ran with made the Incursion essentially another day at the office with more ISK made in the times I ran with the Incursion than I do running Havens solo.

I do recall CCP mentioning recently that they were going to add more PvE content to EVE Online, but I think a major step forward for CCP in the PvE apartment would be to make Captial ship-level PvE content. Even the Incursions top off at the Battleship-level - the only Capital in sight is the Super Carrier at the end of every Sansha Incursion. Granted, that would likely lead to a massive shift in the Status Quo of the storyline in EVE, but I do recall that a number of Pirate NPC Alliances have actually got their hands on Capital Ships over the years.

If you do that, that would lead to more uses for Capital ships outside of PvP combat. Hell, you could even place Titan-level Capitals in as "end-game" missions for Incursions, or mass PvE fleet battles.
