Hello :)

I am looking for a group to do stuff with. Group mining if that is a thing (I read about it somewhere in the isk guide)? or anything really. I am in the Australian time zone.

I'm new and I may need to ask questions but please give me a chance because all I am trying to do is see more of the video game and see what I enjoy doing.

:)

Tiffy.

Yes but this is my second time with you now and this time I know what you mean! lol.

Is your head always in the gutter or only when I open myself to it with poorly chosen words in my posts? lol

Sorry. Somehow ShahFluffers snuck out of the day-room again. On the upside no crayons were eaten today.

Have you discovered the recruitment forum yet? See the sticky in this forum about finding a corp.

I can't vouch for this, but you might try:

You want some helium balloons? They'll insta-counter his [deep jazzy voice], and are easy to use as soon as he opens his mouth to say something.

I'll start sounding like an evil Alvin from Alvin and Chipmunks.

Hmmmmm...

Anyways, you can find groups just by talking to people or hanging out in various groupchats. Connections are everything and befriending people, even people who are supposedly your enemies, can take you places.

A little of the former... definitely not the latter.

I am simply a bitter veteran who likes to peruse through the forums getting my jollies in various threads and trying to be helpful where I can.

Some of my favorite threads are right here in New Citizens Q&A. Because it is pretty fun to act like a slightly aged and buzzed, but well-meaning, Uncle in front of "the kids."

You know that Uncle.
The one who walks out onto his porch in his skippies and bathrobe first thing in the morning... does a little lewd dance in front of the world... and then walks off to finish his first can of cheap beer.
The fun one who has obviously seen some ****, will regale you with stories of "the good old days," and, after ingesting enough chemicals to kill an elephant, can still function as an adult better than most sober people.

Alternatively... I aim to emulate Uncle Fester. Blink

I know, I will try but I'm no good at that. I tried to join some groups chat things and there was too much going on and I just had to close it down or leave the game. too much :(

But I will keep trying.

Ya not all channels are the same. Some are super busy where you can barely read what's going by and some no one will post in for days sometimes.

You just need to find the right channel or channels.

Want to talk? Join Cara's channel in game: House Forelli

Yeah, I like this forum here because it is tidy and not busy and people, for the most part, seem really nice. The chats in the game are very different :(

Welcome!

Check out the sticky up top called "How to find the corp that is right for you - Version 3.0". Good stuff. Hopefully that might be useful to you.

You may find it useful to compare the way you are phrasing your questions with the wording other pilots use.

If you take all the sand out of the box, only the cat poo will remain.

Just a warning on public mining fleets. One I offer new players but expect anyone that's been around a while to know.

Often group mining fleets are a trap. Someone like me that's involved in miner ganking groups (like CODE.) will set up a public mining fleet solely to group targets together, then smartbomb them all or just get in a large gank fleet.

One thing that might be worth a look if you want a social group that do fleet operations together and are active in AU TZ is the Eve Uni lowsec campus.

I support the New Order and CODE. alliance. www.minerbumping.com

Some people will suspect that, yes. We're suspicious of spies and awoxers in this game, because it does allow wars to be declared and peaceful PVE players to be attacked.

On the plus side, you've landed in The Scope, which is not altogether bad as far as an NPC corp chat channel goes.

I'd say, you've had an experience with an unknown small corp, try a known big group now, Brave Newbies, Karma Fleet, Pandemic Horde, Red vs. Blue, pick one, apply, get that experience out of the way.

Or you could try to join one of the active wormhole corps, a pirate corp, or see if one of the mercenary corps that declared war on your last corp are recruiting.

Or pick a corp from this list of Australian corps.

EDIT: The corps I've linked are PVP. PVE in this game has a tendency to be an underwhelming experience, and also PVE corps are very much attacked all the time. Forget about being peaceful, and dive into spaceship pixels violence; I think you'll have more fun. Also, girl gamers are rare here, but not unheard of, but a girl who kicks everyone's ass at PVP, that'll be something else. Forget about butterflies and build yourself a "nasty PVP'er" reputation / killboard history.

Not what I had intended, but technically, sure, it goes both ways.

You are going to have to let your guard down to make friends. I think we're all trying to point out that it doesn't mean you should trust someone completely immediately, enough to contract all your belongings to them to move to their home base without collateral (a common scam).

Be smart about what you are prepared to risk, but don't expect to gain anything more than that in return.

Trust takes time. One thing you should learn about EVE is that it isn't a fast-action twitch-style first-person shooter. EVE is more about the people than spaceships. That's why I keep playing.
